Arrested Development – Mr. Wendal / 1992

Tennessee” may be the more famous/respected song but “Mr. Wendel” holds a more special place in my heart. I was definitely pretty fresh as a youngster, able to sing every word with my sweet-ass white boy rhythm. You will be pleased to know I still haven’t lost it. In 2004 some magazine called “Q” named “Mr. Wendal” the 9th worst rap song of all time which I think says more about their quality as a publication than it does about the dope style that Speech and company were bringing in 1992. Gangsta rap was all the rage and they were dishing up positive vibrations and social consciousness. Well, until they sued FOX over the awesome “Arrested Development” TV show in 2003. Oh well.

  • I just saw them a few weekends ago, several times at a festival. Easily the best and most energetic hip-hop show I've ever seen!
