SIGMUND DROID are not so big on the IMPLIED rock. I feel like real rippage is more their forte.

Sigmund Droid – Implied I

Sigmund Droid first found they their way to my ears a few years back when their faux-British full-crunchy jam “Liverpool Sluts” (below, from their Interpretation of Screams EP) was my go-to fist pumper. I even jacked that intro guitar lick as my ringtone for a while. Pretty epic times. Well fast-forward 3 years, and one curiosity inspired Google search, and here we are. The duo just released the Maximum Grind EP, which contains the fantastic new version of “Implied I” with it’s swinging bassline, solid set of Oh-ohs, and lyrics any guy can relate to. In fact, these guys are tighter and fresher across the board. The whole EP is definitely worth 5 dollars from your X-Mas haul.

Some of you might know the underrated and recently disbanded Apes & Androids, of which one half of Sigmund Droid was a member. Their only album, Blood Moon, is a semi-overstuffed collection of funky jams that mix elements of pop, glam, and punk. I have a few favorites but “Nights of the Week” got the arbitrary pick.

Rewind even further and you will encounter two Apes & Andorids members’ previous group, Call Florence Pow. Their jam “Preparation” has been a longtime instrumental favorite of mine, even soundtracking a scene of one of my 16mm film school joints.

    B,

I can only imagine the madness when Liverpool Sluts is done live, another great find where the bass rules.
    Cool.
  • Yes! Would be so rad to get that one live. Another band that needs more attention.

Sad to hear that A&A have disbanded.

Nights of the Week and Hot Kathy were two pretty sick jams. Will have to get to know Sigmund Droid better to make up for no more A&A tunes.
  • Yeah, I was looking forward to a tighter sophomore LP. Definitely get into Sigmund Droid, I foresee good things (or at least sick live shows!)
