Remix Party Playlist Vol. 61 – 3.22.2012 [Whitney Houstan, Hall & Oats, Beck, Grum, and more...]

By  |  16 Comments

Top of the morning.

With craziness of SXSW nearly a week behind us, its feels good to be home… and although I pride myself on my party prowess- I think it will take weeks to fully recover from that madness.  51 shows in four days… that has to be a record for an individual party.  In the mean time (back in reality), I’m supplementing my diet with extreme amounts of caffeine and sugar.  If Im diagnosed with diabetes in a week, we’ll certainly know why.

Its only thursday, but with the combo of caffeine and the sweet tuneage below, a spontanouse dance party at work is absolutely necessary.  Get down with your self.

Kick it.

God Damn Joel, Gotie’s got to be the remix of the year, goose bumps all over…Great post…

  • http://twitter.com/#!/joelalbers Joel @ TBE

Love that mix, but still enjoy the “Bombs Away” remix of it most.

  • Clea

Yes the Gotye is superb, thank you!

  • Jimmie

Sad to say that quality of post’s on this blog still going in the same direction, down.
In the good old days no one would have commented such a low quality remix as thefatrat remix of gotye.Different crowd here now.

Jimmie, Im glad you’ve been a longtime follower, but damn dude, nobody has a gun to your head forcing you to be here…

Seriously Lou, we write about music we love. Always have, always will. If you don’t like it then there are plenty of other blogs out there. This blog has always been about positive energy. Leave your negativity at the door.

  • Williamgold

    Yeah. Don’t be a bellend.

  • Jimmie

I’m aware that I’m not forced to be here. This used to be a great place to find great music. And as I feel the quality of the music here isn’t what it used to be, I get disappointed.

    Only positive comments allowed?

  • http://www.TheBurningEar.com/ Brandon @ TBE

Jimmie, let me be clear, negative comments are very welcome. Read through the comment history and I always engage people whith constructive criticism to give. That is different than what you wrote.

    1) A blanket statement like “quality of the post on the blog is going down” is not a helpful comment. This is a big blog with a wide variety of posts. You ned to be more specific if you want your comment to mean something.

    2) One of your main complaints was with the fact that people liked that TheFatRat remix. “Different crowd here now” you said. Why would you worry about who reads a blog you read? Isn’t it about the music? Sure, lodge a specific complaint with the way you feel the site is run but calling out other readers for liking something is just lame. And makes me defensive. This blog is nothing without its readers and that is why I respond to every comment (unlike almost every blog I’ve ever read).

    3) Looking over your previous comments on TBE and other sites it seems there is a common thread of negativity. Why not write something positive about something you do like? Positivity leads to more positivity. Plus I’ll have a sense of your taste when you do make a negative comment. You ever notice that we never write about music we dont’s like on TBE? That is a conscious decision.

With all that said I am genuinely curious as to what kind of songs you have liked here in the past and what specifically you feel has declined recently. I am constantly striving to make this site the best it can be. However, keep in mind that there is really only one person’s taste that matters here and that is the writer of a post. Thats exactly what music blogs are all about.

Thanks for not disappearing into the internet and for keeping the conversation open.

I can’t put my finger on the exact reason why quality of posts not being what they used to (except the rebirth of dubstep), hence the non constructive critisism.

    I’ve written positive comments like, using my full name for some reason;
“Great work. Best best of 2011 by far.””Ignore my comment on the best remixes of 2011 Pt. 2. This would, hands down, be the best of the best of 2011.”
And FYI I’m Swedish. It’s in my nature (well, almost) to only express myself when I’m not pleased and to keep quiet when I like something, so those words are sincere :)

And don’t get me wrong , I don’t come here as often as I used to but this is still one of my most visited blogs.

Take it as a compliment that I care enough to speak up instead of stop reading!

For a better understanding.  Can you give an example of what you consider a good remix roundup?
