If you follow TBE on Facebook or Twitter then you know I caught Capital Cities on Monday. If you follow TBE in any way then you know that makes me a lucky man. They tore the house down and then built the whole thing back up just to tear it down again. On a Monday! Live horns, extra guitarists, crisp blazers, and signature jumbo glasses were all on stage as they pumped out all the favorites plus a handful if new jams that sounds absolutely stellar. Nestled somewhere in that aural firework display was this reworking of the Pink Floyd classic. Chew on it as you plan your strategy to get them to play your town soon. Fly me out too!

♫ The Weeknd – Echoes of Silence (The Lost Boys Remix)

I wasn’t going to post about the newest Weeknd album at all since the thing didn’t resonate with me much for whatever reason but then this Lost Boys remix made for a easy excuse to throw my two cents in the ring. But really, ignore my two cents. Focus on this remix. It adds just the right amount of spark to illuminate the dark hollows of the Weekend’s original.

♫ Toro Y Moi – All Alone (D.A.R.E. Remix)

While the internet is all abuzz over some old Toro demo that is now being passed off as listenable I’m straight chilling over here with this stellar re-funking of “All Alone” by L.A.’s D.A.R.E. This is summertime swagger right here. Get loose!

Its been awhile since I released a Remix Roundup. Yeah, I know blah blah…  What if i told you that I have one in the batters box and another on deck… just waiting there patiently, ready to slap you in the face with this waffle here (Baseball reference in 2012- check).  BTW, this waffle is made of plastic and it might hurt.

I had the privilege of catching DWNTWN play on Saturday night and damn if they didn’t redefine what two people, one guitar, and a backing track can do to a stage. (Their enthusiasm and stage presence easily out-performed M83 and their supposed epicness.) Plus, DWNTWN’s songs beyond the 2 we already know are all gold. But until we can get our hands on recorded versions of those jams they are keeping us satisfied with other treats. This cover of Angus & Julia Stone’s “Big Jet Plane” is a great part of their set and is beautifully rendered here. (plus has a video)
