Brandon’s Digest Vol. 14 – 10.21.2010 [Hot Chip, RAC, Penguin Prison, Foals, Kisses, Duck Sauce, Temper Trap, and more!]

Now that Joel & Scott have joined Team TBE and are piloting the Remix Roundup train to partyville on the regular I have updated the Digest format to act as a roundup of all sorts of goodness coming my way! Hopefully this will be a more regular and timely than it was. Orient yourself below and enjoy!

NEW RELEVENT JAMS

♫ Sensual Harassment – Boss / Dare I say this song is boss? I probably shouldn’t. It’s definitely rad, though. Sensusal Harassment go 3 for 3 with their limited catalog!

♫ Mayer Hawthorne – No Strings (Prod by Classixx) / New Mayer Hawthorne produced by Classixx? That’s code for get naked and funky! Yeeeeeeeehhhhhh…… Amen, Mayer!

♫ Hot Chip, Bernard Sumner & Hot City – Didn’t Know What Love Was / Converse went and got a bunch of people on a track again. Fun times! I guess shoes and soda are the new record labels, eh?

♫ Anamaaguchi – Mess / Anamanaguchi continue their tradition of giving away fresh 8-bit craziness with this hot mess. I’m seeing a team of synchronized and oversized robot back-up dancers laying waste to a digital NYC. Someone make that video, stat!

REMIXES

♫ Coheed and Cambria – World Of Lin (Johnny Whitney Remix) / Coheed is one of my ol’ school favorites and Claudio’s voice will always bring me back to impromptu karaoke sessions with Ted at our Park Ave apartment. (Poughkeepsie represent!). I didn’t even know they had a new song out until I stumbled across this remix and have been rocking out too hard to track down the original. Anyone know what’s the deal? I gotta get a towel for this sweat. So rowdy!

Toothache (StardonE Remix) by them:youth / One of this month’s standout tracks gets an elastic dance remix for our body bending pleasure! Ride that synth groove! Toothache also has a dubstep remix for those of you in-line with that vibe! (Download this jam with that little arrow on the right of the player. ♫ The Temper Trap – Resurrection (Penguin Prison Remix) / If you can read the text at left then you know you are in for a treat.

♫ Jayme Dee – Love Whiplash (RAC Mix) / RAC doin the damn thing. Again. If I didn’t know that he improved everything he touches I might be tempted to check out the original..

♫ Kisses – Kisses (Joe Goddard Of Hot Chip Remix) / Kisses has a new self-titled jam out and you should definitely grab it after getting lost in this Joe Goddard shoulder rub of a remix. Yeah, right there. Just a little harder…. Ooooh yeah….

COVERS

♫ Foals – One (Swedish House Mafia Cover) / Even if you don’t know you know the original, you know the original. Just listen. Somewhere mid Jersey Shore fist pump you’l realize it. 3 cheers for Foals for MURDERING IT on this cover! Damn… So good.

MASHUPS

♫ The Hood Internet – Freeze, Barbara! (Young Dro vs Duck Sauce) / There are an obscene amount of “Barbara” remixes floating around but since nothing will ever top that original beat, might as well throw some rapping over it! Enter: The Hood Internet, naturally.

DISAPPOINTMENTS

♫ Fujiya & Miyagi – Sixteen Shades of Black and Blue / Everyone’s favorite non-Japanese, non-duo, is back with a puddle splash of a single. Snooze. Put on “Collarbone!”

♫ Metronomy – What Do I Do Now / Metronomy! What happened? You have always been fucking weird but you had a run of freshness going on for a hot minute.

I am really just deftly manipulating all of you to like everything on this site!

But really, did you know those bands before? Because if you did then I feel like you wouldn’t have zero expectations. Or maybe I am just missing something…

Damn, that track seems to be taken down! I would love to hear it!

I don’t know that Young Dro track either but I just like that all they added to the song was some fresh rhymes instead of fucking with the perfect beat. And I just love THI in general.
