♫ Penguin Prison – Worse It Gets (RAC Mix) / Damn. Jams don’t get much fresher than this. I haven’t heard the original yet but I couldn’t wait another moment to share this slice of audio perfection. Penguin Prison and RAC are both firing on all cylinders on this buttery smooth funk fest. This jam could cure depression if administered in daily doses. For reals.
♫ Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes – Home (RAC Mix) / RAC doing his magic on this recent modern classic of a love song. This kind of remix is a perfect example of why I love RAC so much. the dude can pack on the beats and make a banger when he sees fit but sometimes he takes a more subtle approach (see: last year’s John Legend remix) and the results are always brilliant. When your head is killing you tomorrow just sit back and soak up this magic.
♫ Jack Peñate – So Near (Penguin Prison Remix) / This time it’s Penguin Prison behind the boards as he funks up Jack Penate. More mood-setter than party-starter, it’s interesting to hear Peñate’s voice surrounded by so many synthetic sounds.
♫ Miike Snow – Sylvia (eRNEST&AMz Remix) / Surprise, surprise, Miike Snow in a remix roundup! “Sylvia” gets its second remix treatment and I’m digging this caps-lock-challenged-duo’s synth grinder more Sinden’s version. It’s got real late night driving appeal as well as making me want to bend a knee or two on the dance floor.
♫ Neon Trees – Animal (Shuttle Remix) / Passion Pit’s drummer has funked up jams by Phoenix as well as his own band and now he takes on my favorite band from Provo, Utah. I’m not sure if you could pull off any convincing dance moves to this slow-churning blurp-bumper but it’s a funky listen fo sho.
♫ Freelance Whales – Generator 1st Floor (Aislyn Remix) / Apparently Passion Pit are not busy enough because now we’ve got their keyboardist doing remixes too. Freelance Whales’ fantastic song gets shot into space on a cloudless night and we get to come along for the blissed out ride.
♫ The Bang Bang Club – Chemistry (Seamus Haji Radio Edit) / One of the years catchiest party-people jams gets a less in-your-face remix treatment as the pace gets slowed and the beat get pumped.
♫ First Rate People – Girls’ Night (Mister Fidget + Sound Remedy Remix) / In a rare exercise of remix brevity this version actually clocks in at 2 seconds shorter than the original. I would have actually liked to hear them take this a little farther cause it seems like they are just getting into a groove when it all wraps up.
♫ Hot Chip Vs. Will Oldham – I Feel Bonnie (Club Version) / Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy busts out this cover/remix of Hot Chip’s super-jam and it is… ummm…  highly bloggable. Give me folk or give me funk but tread carefully when mixing the two. And no talking bullshit over the dance music! I’m trying to pop n’ lock over here and you are messing up my flow!
♫ Dwight K. Schrute vs. Weezy – Office Musik (Clockwork Edit) / Speaking of flow! Weezy ripping over the theme from The Office? Yes! Brilliantly done.
♫ Steve Aoki – I’m In The House (feat. [[[zuper blahq]]]) (Grandtheft Remix) / Steve Aoki just got engaged and while that’s great for him and all, what do we get out of it? Ooh, how about this sweet remix by the always formidable Grandtheft that is filled with enough reasons to get freaky that it should come with a parental warning sticker. Or at least some moist towelettes.
♫ Snoop Dogg ft. Kid Cudi – That Tree (The Soundmen Remix) / Leave it up to The Soundmen to brilliantly transform this mediocre rap song into a fresh-2-def bounce-fest that makes me want to invest in one of these and hit the streets to move some feet.
♫ Lady Gaga ft. Beyonce – Telephone (Alphabeat Remix) / As if anyone needs an excuse to listen to Lady Gaga, these Danes have givens another with this crunchy “Telephone” remix that demands arm flailing and severe torso movements.
♫ Fool’s Gold – Nadine (Memory Tapes Version) / Been sitting on this one for ages but seeing as how I finally got ahold of Fool’s Gold’s album and was not impressed enough to post on it I’m throwing this great Memory Tapes remix in here. The video for “Nadine” just came out too but I can’t view it in my “geographic region” so I’ll just have to visualize my own space safari.
