Remix Roundup Vol. 25 / 9.12.2010 / Joel & Scott present: Crystal Castles, Mike Posner, The Temper Trap, B.o.B, Rihanna, and more!

Let me introduce ourselves for we are the new faces….  Who are we you ask?  Well I’d like to think we laugh with the sinners and cry with the saints, but honestly we don’t hang out with too many of them saints.  I wish we were clever and able to come up with something sweet to say like this…

Born out of the mouths of wolves and serpents.
Raised up by degenerates and whores in the gutters of your forgotten cities.
Among the spawn of your outcast, your rebuked, your lepers.
Breaking bread with gangsters, hustlers, real motherfuckers
Scorned by your fearful leaders, and your simple masses.
Bearing no marking, no number, no names.
Only one sign, the Rad Omen.
For we are many, for we are many.

But, that would be ridiculous; as that is Rad Omens Bio on Myspace (damn).

The truth is that we are two dudes (Joel & Scott) from Seattle Washington that just love to get Nurdy’ and melt our faces on that dirty d-floor.   Remixes to Us are what platinum haired Bunnies are to Hugh Hefner.  We love remixes because it gives us a second chance at a song.  It gives an artist the ability of taking any ordinary song and making it great.  Below are some of our favorite remixes of the last several months that “The Burning Ear” hasn’t included in any of their “roundups.”  If any of the following songs change your life YOU’RE WELCOME.

For more jams or by any of these artists use the ‘tags’ links at the bottom of the post!  Follow @JoelAlbers on Twitter for updates on remixes, dubstep and all things Nurdy.

♫ Ou Est Le Swimming Pool – These New Knights (JOCKS REMIX) / Ou Est Le Swimming Pool we barely got to know you. The death of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool’s Charles Haddon hit Scott and I hard. The band was only in our lives for a year, but they had easily become one of our favorites. Their sound will be missed.

♫ Crystal Castles – Crimewave (Midnight Conspiracy Remix) / I know Brandon wasn’t the biggest Crystal Castles fan awhile back, but we are.  Not only do I (Joel) like their music but I liked Midnight Conspiracy the minute I heard this remix.

♫ Ellie Goulding – Under The Sheets (KIDS AT THE BAR Remix) / If you don’t know who Kids at the Bar are by now, then slap yourself.  These guys are spinnin heat, and to be honest this is nowhere near their best track.  They’ve done magical things with Empire of the Sun’s, Passion Pit’s, and The Harlem Shakes’ music.

♫ Mike Posner – Open Up Your Eyes (Gigamesh & DiscoTech Remix) / Where the hell would Mike Posner be without Gigamesh?  When I first saw that Gigamesh came out with another Mike Posner remix I almost puked of excitement.  Forget the radio edit of cooler than me, the original remix by Gigamesh was a thumper.  This song doesn’t disappoint.  Gigamesh and Discotech are straight Genius.

♫ The Temper Trap – Fader (Adam Freeland mix) / I’ve heard several remixes of this song and have never really been thrilled till the moment Scotty sent me this song.  This song is chunky and full of grindyness, which is everything I like in a remix.

♫ Shy Child – Disconnected (Ocelot Remix) / Let this song build into its pulsating self.  Its hypnotic.

♫ Marina and the Diamonds – Obsessions (Ocelot Remix) / I don’t know if I love Marina or I just love her music being remixed.  Either way, Ocelot are at it again with their hypnotic ridiculousness.  I just want to slap someone in the face right now to make sure I’m not in some sort of Ocelot dream world.

♫ Marina and The Diamonds – I Am Not A Robot (Clock Opera Remix) / God himself wants you to listen to this track.  Its like Clock Opera took this song and turned it into a magical soundtrack.  Listen to it, and let it tell you its story.  (BTW we have more Marina to come)

♫ The Good Natured – Your Body Is A Machine (Baby Monster remix) / When Scotty sent me this song, I played it about 5 times in a row in my car at full blast with the windows down in downtown Austin just to piss everyone off.  That’s all I have to say about that.

♫ The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition (Axwell mix) / I am completely confused about which Sweet Disposition remix I like the most.  I loved the RAC remix, but then I heard the Morgan Page remix and now this.  Sometimes I wish artists would stop remixing a song that already has amazing remixes out there, but in this case I was wrong.  Very wrong.

♫ Everything Everything – MY KZ, UR BF (Clock Opera Remix) / Clock Opera are on point with their innovative sound.  This is a very good song.

♫ Sunday Girl – Self Control (Fenech-Soler Remix) / The original artist Laura Branigan was ahead of her time with this song.  In my opinion she was a better singer, but I have to say I like the 2010 Fenech-Soler/Sunday Girl version the best.  I just dig the layers that Fenech-Soler bring to the table with this remix.

♫ B.o.B – AIRPLANES (DJ MEGAMAN & PANIC CITY RMX) / We’ve had this one for awhile now and honestly it was much better when the original song wasn’t completely overplayed.  Still though, DO NOT overlook this remix as this song subtly kicks the original in the face.

♫ Rihanna vs. Iron Maiden – Fear of The Rockstar 101 (DJs From Mars Remix) / Honestly, really?  I would have thought this was a joke until I saw it was DJs From Mars behind this remix/mash-up.  These guys are masters, so turn it up and put you’re middle fingers in the air.

♫ Monarchy – Love Get Out Of My Way (Benny Benassi Remix Edit) / Im a huge Monarchy fan and the original version of this song is cool, but this Benny Benassi remix takes it to another level.

Stay tuned……
