A-Trak – “Push” feat. Andrew Wyatt

Music for… those of watching 1/3 of Miike Snow killing it with new project Galantis and wondering if we would ever hear the sweet sounds of singer Andrew Wyatt again. Leave it up to premiere talent curator and supreme collaborator A-Trak to give us a little party medicine with this gritty butt bumper. “Push” may not be a new Miike Snow jam but damn if it isn’t a fine piece of collaboration.

Location: A-Trak is everywhere, man.

Future: “Push” is supposedly “a new chapter of solo material from DJ hero A-Trak” so thats exciting.

[VIDEO] A-Trak & Dillon Francis – “Money Makin’”

A-Trak and Dillon Francis just dropped the song of the summer. The video sees them joined by cameos, Chromeos, stoop folk, and a dancing ATM with a heart. Sweetness.

[MIXTAPE] The Hood Internet – THE MIXTAPE VOLUME SIX

don’t play the game that i can’t win

  • Who: ABX and STV SLV
  • What: Indie/rap mashups, like Bearbot, Invisiboy, It’s Overture
  • Where: Chicago, IL + Facebook
  • When: Sweet mashups served weekly.
  • Why: The Hood Internet are the gold standard in indie/rap mashups but the Burning Ear hasn’t featured a new jam of theirs since Christmas 2010. I was beginning to think they done fell off.

♫ The Hood Internet – Beastie Boys x Santigold x Weird Tapes – Don’t Play No Trash

Then they dropped Volume Six of their mixtape series and all worry was washed away by the most seamless collection of genius mashup choices this year. Just scroll through the tracklist here to see what I mean. From the unexpected (Wiz + Phantogram, Mayer Hawthorne + M83, Tyga + Neon Indian) to the predictably balanced (Whitney + Chromeo, Ma$e + Notorious B.I.G. + Penguin Prison) The Hood Internet live up to that album art of deftly concocting dance party magic.

♫ The Hood Internet – Tyga x Neon Indian – Polish City

I highly recommend you do not start a party this year without this mix on hand. Stream the whole thing below and download it free here.

♫ The Hood Internet – Whitney Houston x Chromeo – When The Night Knows

[VIDEO & MP3] Mark Foster, A-Trak, and Kimbra – “Warrior” (Official Video)

I’m not quite sure what to think here.  On one hand we have a super fun pop anthem, but on the other… I feel a bit strange when songs are made out of marketing schemes.  Thats taking the love out of the music right?  I don’t know, when its all said and done the collaboration sounds like it was made in pop heaven.  You’ve got all the pieces- Foster the People’s fun synth-pop catchiness, A-Trak’s uber production talent, and Kimbra’s sexy voice.  I guess props to Converse for putting this together?  Expect this to be a huge mainstream radio hit this summer.

Its Friday and this is how we do it.  Don’t know about you, but I just got my coffee game on and Im feeling that caffeine high right about now.  Powered right through that 2:30 wall like it was blue cotton-candy.  And I love that shite.  Just marf’n on it.  Anyway, enough of this noise.  Lets be honest, you’re here for the chuneage.

Brandon’s TBE Digest 29 – [10.11.2011] New Jams, Remixes, & Covers!

Artwork by Jacob Youngblood Ziegler

Brandon’s TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don’t necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold.

It’s a big one folks. Proceed with caution (and good speakers). Also note the new Digest logo that will be here to stay. Enough of that little weird cartoon guy we had for so long, amiright!? Cheers to new beginnings! And new jams!

Joel & Scott’s Top 50 Remixes of 2010

Welcome back party peeps.  We, Joel & Scott are proud to bring you our Top 50 Remixes of 2010.

Totally wish we could think of some rad shite to introduce this wicked cool Top 50 list with, but we’re both having some serious writers block here.  Typically in this situation we would just drink or get some sort of major caffeine stimulation (often both).  Not gonna lie, we enjoyed the hell out of our super strong energy/alcoholic beverages, but thanks to Central Washington University students the shite is outlawed.  Please, we’d love to hear your side of the story.   Anyway,… by now if you are a TBE follower you know that we are two dudes (Joel & Scott) originally from Seattle that just love to get Nurdy’ and melt our faces on that dirty d-floor.   And yeah, remixes to us are what platinum haired Bunnies are to Hugh Hefner.

Lastly, you might think its a little late for a “Best of List”, but that was a deliberate move on our part.  We at TBE don’t believe in a  “Best of List” before the New Year and we really wanted to take our time.  2010 was an incredible year for DJs and remix artists around the world.  Our top two remixes this year may very well be two of our top remixes of all time.  Its amazing to see the support DJs are now getting around the globe.  Don’t forget that they’re the ones that keep us dancing.

Keep dancing all, and if any of the following songs change your life YOU’RE WELCOME.  (Don’t forget to check out our Top 10 Dubstep Remixes of 2010)

The 25 Best Songs of 2010… Since Then (July-Dec.)

Here it is, for better or worse, for agreement or not, my list of the top 25 jams that rocked and/or rolled my ass during the second half of 2010. This is the 4th such list in TBE history and by far the most quality collection. There were  so many tracks that didn’t make the cut, and so many more that I think should be ranked higher. Can’t put ’em all in the top 10, now can I? Anyway, like all my lists, the ranking is loose. The quality, however, is tight as a drum… a tom-tom drum, perhaps…

25. ♫ Wiz Khalifa – Black & Yellow / Annnnd, this is why we don’t do year end lists before the YEAR ENDS. A late entry to my iTunes and an instant favorite. Swagger city up in this one! Push to start!

24. ♫ Fabolous – You Be Killin Em / Naw, Fabo, YOU be killen ’em. Niiice.

23. ♫ Muscles – Girl Crazy Go / Should be called “Brandon Crazy Go” cause that’s what happens. It’s like Read more
