LETS DO A SUMMER MIXTAPE with [RAC, Adventure Club, Goldroom, Viceroy, DWNTWN, Ghost Beach, Cry Wolf and Lights & Music]

When I first started the blog feature on Lights & Music last month, this mixtape was the first idea that I put into action.  Wikipedia, in-short describes mixtapes as usually reflecting the musical tastes of its compiler, a conceptual mix of songs linked by a theme or mood tailored to the tape’s intended recipient.  Yeah sure, we’ve all made mixtapes before.  But, what happens when you get a bunch of artists and bloggers to make a mixtape with the intended recipient being you?  Thats what I wanted to find out.  The concept is simple, yet I hadn’t really seen it anywhere else.

Everyone was given two selections.  They could either choose two tracks defining their summer so far in 2012 or one new and one all-time summer favorite.  Sounds simple enough in theory, but narrowing down your favorite jams to fit that criteria was tough.  That said, this was a fun project and I intend on making this a annual event.

Without further ado, please enjoy and share with others. Read more

Dubstep Roundup Vol. 32 – 6.18.2012 [Adventure Club, Kill Paris, Ellie Goulding, Purity Ring, and more…]

Welcome To Dubstep Roundup Vol. 32

What up my TBE peeps?  Its been long overdue, I know.  The Reason: As some of you know I’ve been working on several other projects.  Mainly, Lights & Music Entertainment; a Music Blog / Concert & Event Production Series.   Does this mean I’m done with TBE?  Nope, but most of my time will be spent building content for my own blog.  Don’t worry, my Remix & Dubstep Roundups are alive and well over there.  In fact, they are about to be better than ever.

I truly hope you have your bowels in check for this shit, because its about to get Nurdy as all get-up.

Frankly, its not safe in here.

Adventure Club – Do I See Color (Dafusia Remix) “LME” favorites get the Dafusia treatment.  Have no clue who Dafusia is, but I dig the way he treats tracks…

Band Of Horses – The Funeral (Sound Remedy Remix) / This is one hell of a melodic dubstep tune.  Sound Remedy, a Lights & Music alum, was working with magic glow-sticks when he created this gem. Read more

[MP3] Adventure Club – Wait

♫ Adventure Club – Wait

Annnnnd the Super-Hero/Dj-Duo a.k.a. Adventure Club are back with another original production.  This time with a Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Maps” vocal sample to boast.  A perfect match… Karen O’s voice was ment for Adventure Club.  Like when you meet someone for the first time, but you feel like you’ve known them forever.   Yeah, that about sums it up.

AC also just announced they’ll be releasing their new track featuring Krewella on thursday.  As someone that has heard peaces of it- I can personally guarantee another #1 Hype Machine topper.  Put it in the bank.

Put your seat belts on my bass-loving friends, its going to be a wiggle womp kind of ride.

Remix Party Playlist Vol. 65 – 5.15.2012 [Zander Bleck, Eric Clapton, Modonna, Adventure Club, and more…]

♫ [Exclusive] Zander Bleck – Temptation (SICK INDIVIDUALS Remix) / Holy mother loving baby Skrillex, this mix is LARGE.  Do yourself a favor- download, get in your car, turn it up to 1000, roll your windows down and scare the wits out of elderly women and children.  You can also download on iTunes.

♫ Eric Clapton – Cocaine (No Big Deal Remix) / If for some reason the last tune didn’t get you all hot and bothered…  You can thank Toronto’s No Big Deal for the sweat party.

Dubstep Roundup Vol. 28 – 2.17.2012 [Foxes, Krewella, Zedd, Digitalism and more…]

Finally, Dubstep Roundup Vol. 28

Its been some time since I’ve dropped some silly bass on your faces.  The Reason: I’ve been working on projects inside and outside of TBE, so its been difficult to mangage time (video clip at the bottom).  Whats awesome: Brandon and I will have some exciting announcements coming up in the next week or so.  For now: Bury your heads in the bass below.

I’ll see you Nurds on the dark side.

[MP3] Adventure Club – Do I See Color

♫ Adventure Club – Do I See Color

This track is the first original piece we’ve received from the AD boys since their early experimental stage of 2011. After a quick listen, “Do I See Color” sounds true to Adventure Club’s form and a safe bet to top the Hype Machine’s popular chart… Something Adventure Club makes look way too easy.  I think its pretty clear that 2012 will be a rather large year for the duo from Montreal. Cheers to that.

  • Who: Leighton James & Christian Srigley
