Look, I’m not even a big hip-hop fan but I’ll stop and listen to Andre 3000 drop rhymes any time. Cheers to Woody’s Produce for wrapping this legendary verse (and the others too, whatevs) in his mellowed out slow burn remix that is treating me right on this Friday night.
where there is cheese there are rats, where ever there are rats there are cats, where ever there are cats there are dogs, if you got the dogs you got bitches, bitches always out to put their paws up on your richesÂ
Just because Christmas is over doesn’t mean that the giving spirit doesn’t live on! TBE alums ANR dished out a 2-song gift over holidays and while their cover of “Little Drummer Boy” may have to wait a few months to dip into rotation, their take on Kelis & Andre 3000’s “Millionaire” is something else. There is weight here. Not many of us can identify with the pain of being rich but now we can know what it sounds like. And who doesn’t want to hear Andree 3000’s verses slowed to an easily followable speed? Plus they take on a whole different feel when they are sung with more heavy emotion. Well played, ANR.
I have no clue who Lloyd is but the guy has Andre 3000 dropping verses and Lil Wayne on the intro so he must have something going on. Well, his lady still left him and he is sad. Fair enough. Well, missing your ex never sounded this good or made your grandma blush this much but I’m on board. Sexy hit of the summer? Oh, and can we get an Andre 3000 album please?

Because sometimes Monday is a good day for a fresh batch of remixes. And because sometimes you know Joel and Scott are right around the corner with their set of bangers and you gotta act fast. And because sometimes I just love you all and want to spread the sonic goodness.

So Big Boi’s loooong awaited solo album is finally coming out July 6th and since the already leaked “Shine Blockas” is one of the best songs of last year, you know we are stoked. Well, the latest news is that Def Jam is blocking Andre 3000 from being on the album so all his collaborations were cut from the final track-list. That brings us to “Lookin For Ya” which was probably supposed to be on the LP but has instead been leaked for our advanced enjoyment. Thanks Def Jam! Both Outkast guys are on point and Sleepy Brown provides steamy R&B vocals to set the mood over an elastic-funk bass-line that instantly loosens the hips. All I’m saying is that Friday night better watch it’s back.

If you have never seen Santigold before, don’t worry, that’s not her. That is my main goblin Lil’ Wayne lookin as sexy/blazed as ever. Santigold, however, was at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday night and not-coincidentally, so was I. Was her set awesome? Well, let’s just say she opened with her part from Major Lazer’s “Hold The Line” and it was fire and heat from there. Good thing Terry Urban made this Santi-basd mixtape to make a segue into something relevant… Terry Urban is no noob to the mixtape game and it shows in this seamless mashup of Santi’s debut and Terry’s favorite rappers from the dirty-dirty. There has been some controversy about the mix but who cares about that? Download the full mixtape below or sample here. Andre 3000 is apparently always genius and Rick Ross is apparenty always hustin’ so start there for some raw nasty.
You know we love Basement Jaxx, now hear Santigold rip her shizzle on this new ska-tinged Basement Jamm from their upcoming Scars. This is not better than “Raindrops,” “Hold The Line” or even “Gifted” but it’s still fun.
