Boy, this one was a long time coming. Either you are all quite patient or you didn’t notice. Either way I have been busy as heck which just means that all the tracks I had compiled got whittled down to just the gems. Rock.

NEW RELEVENT JAMS
♫ Memory Tapes – Wait In The Dark / New Memory Tapes! This guy just has that touch. Never my favorite songs in the world but I always enjoy hearing them.

NEW RELEVENT JAMS
♫ Jamaica – 1324 Jericho / New Jamaica track from their debut album I’ve yet to be inspired to listen to. Anyone heard it? This one is kinda basic but fun.
♫ Operator Please – Catapult / Australia’s Operator Please dropped a couple super-fun jams a few years back. Their latest has some spunk to it too.
This new one by Chicago/L.A. songstress Anni Rossi bounced through my headphones on the walk to school this morning and it was the perfect way to ease my tired mind into gear. A pulsing bass and prancing guitars are occasionally interrupted by some sort of great clip-clop percussion thing and then a kettle drum (?). Whatever is going on, it is perfectly minimal while still being immensely catchy. It’s also nice to hear Anni’s vocals more relaxed and confident than they were on last years great “Machine” (below). “Machine” came from Anni’s debut LP Rockwell (which was recorded in one day) but I have no idea where “Crushing Limbs” fit’s into things. Whether a one-off single, or beginning of a new album, I’m glad to have this track on my iPod for tomorrow morning.

I caught this track off of Music For Ants a few weeks ago and its been growing on me more and more. Anni Rossi is some kind of viola virtuoso and crafts light yet slightly haunting little ditties that remind me of the awesome Regina Spektor. “Machine” is the perfect soundtrack to the kind of lazy Saturday I’m having over here. I’ll also throw in her cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.” Not sure what to think of it but it’s interesting nonetheless. I like the way she sings “weirdo.” Her debut LP Rockwell is out now.
