Brandon’s TBE Digest 26 [8.10.2011] New Jams, Remixes, & Covers!

Brandon’s TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don’t necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold.

See that nifty little intro in italics up there? Yeah, it was brought to my attention that these Digests didn’t come with much in the way of explanation and even dedicated TBE readers may not really understand what the heck these are considering I haven’t explained them in about 22 volumes. Oops. Anyway, this Digest has some real jam-a-roonies so quit reading my baloney and get in there!

NEW RELEVENT JAMS

♫ The Rapture – How Deep Is Your Love / The Rapture return after waaaay too many years absent with a jam. It’s no “Whoo Alright” but it does bode well for more sweetness from these guys.

♫ Toro y Moi – Saturday Love / Toro y Moi gave us a Summer present! Thanks Chad!

♫ Teddybears – Weed In A Rizzla (feat. Trimbal) / I really don’t know what to Read more

Brandon’s TBE Digest 24 – [7.6.2011] New Jams, Remixes, Mashups & Covers!

If you thought I died then that’s silly. I been here, just busy as all get out between work and then holidays and then the Open’er Festival. I’ve had this digest simmering for an extended minute now so cool kids take a chill pill if you are already up on these. Rock on folks and expect vol. 25 sooner than soon.

NEW RELEVENT JAMS

♫ J. Cole – Work Out / Another smooth jam from J. Cole. I like this guy’s flavor.

♫ Portugal, The Man – Got It All (This Can’t Be Living Now) / New Portugal! Not my favorite of their tracks but their stuff is generally on a different level anyway.

♫ Hercules & Love Affair – Painted Eyes (Radio Edit) / I’ve heard a few of the new Hercules tracks and while they are no “Blind” this one definitely has Read more

[MP3] AUSTRA don’t LOSE any of that opera magic when laying IT on this kam

i get impatient with every word, the more they ask me the more i’ve heard

♫ Austra – Lose It

Winter is getting a firm spring boot to the backside so the window on icy sulk music is closing quickly. Good thing Toronto’s Austra have wrapped their dramatic vocals and lyrics in a bit of bounce and groove. I could almost see this jam soundtracking some time-lapse film of snow melting away to blossoming flowers and quickening creeks.

Vocalist Katie Stelmanis has been singing opera since she was a child and even sang on a Fucked Up album. She clearly has broad ambitions and it shows with Austra. There is an optimism in their sound that is so often lost in the music accompanying other powerful female voices. Austra’s debut album, Feel It Break, is out May 7th and is supposedly a solid affair. I look forward to it! Grab another track here.
