TBE Exclusive! /// DJ Bouji and the ‘Just Quit’ Mix

djbouji_logodo you enjoy what you do? if not, don’t stop, don’t say shit

♫ Trackademicks vs. Sammy Bananas – Enjoy What You Do (Bouji Mash N Slash)

Just when you thought you weren’t going to be getting an exclusive mixtape to jam to all weekend, BAM, here it is! Surprises are fun as hell, but not nearly as fun as this buttery smooth funk-fest that L.A.’s own DJ Bouji has served up for us. I have seen this guy spin a few times and he always lights it up with his flow. His Just Quit mix is no different as he mixes genres, decades, and styles into one big party anthem. If you have been listening to his Mash N Slash of Sammy Bananas remix of Trackademicks “Enjoy What You Do” then you know what’s up. If you check out the tracklist after the jump you’ll see Miike Snow rolled into Peter Gabriel and Kings Of Leon paving the way for The Outfield. I love it. Download the whole thing below and have a kick ass weekend.

Santigold – You’ll Find A Way Player (Ft. Andre 3000 & Bun B)

If you have never seen Santigold before, don’t worry, that’s not her. That is my main goblin Lil’ Wayne lookin as sexy/blazed as ever. Santigold, however, was at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday night and not-coincidentally, so was I. Was her set awesome? Well, let’s just say she opened with her part from Major Lazer’s “Hold The Line” and it was fire and heat from there. Good thing Terry Urban made this Santi-basd mixtape to make a  segue into something relevant… Terry Urban is no noob to the mixtape game and it shows in this seamless mashup of Santi’s debut and Terry’s favorite rappers from the dirty-dirty. There has been some controversy about the mix but who cares about that? Download the full mixtape below or sample here. Andre 3000 is apparently always genius and Rick Ross is apparenty always hustin’ so start there for some raw nasty.

BONUS: Basement Jaxx – Saga (ft. Santigold)

You know we love Basement Jaxx, now hear Santigold rip her shizzle on this new ska-tinged Basement Jamm from their upcoming Scars. This is not better than “Raindrops,” “Hold The Line” or even “Gifted” but it’s still fun.

Remix Roundup /// Vol. 4

Here at TBE I like to focus on new artists we are about to love and new tracks by artists we already love. BUT! Sometimes a remix comes along that just hast to be shared (danced to), and even more often a dozen remixes come along, hence the Remix Roundup. This week has some fantastic remixers (Designer Drugs, Don Diablo, Bloodshy & Avant, etc) remixing some TBE faves (La Roux, Basement Jaxx, Frankmusik, etc.). Crank the volume, clear the dance floor and download away!

TBE Exclusive! DJ be and the Slow Burn Summer mix

Big moves are being made over at TBE HQ and one of them is this, The Slow Burn Summer mix, our first DJ mix by local favorite “DJ be” who was kind enough to blend up a fresh-to-death 60 minutes of straight fire. Put in on your iPod, cell phone, CDR, or whatever and then slip on your shimmy-shoes.

The mix is a single file because this thing is too fresh to be skipping tracks. I have, however, embedded a timecoded track-list in the lyrics section of the ID3 tag so you can at least know where you are at (or jump to your favorite part, if necessary). Let me know what you think of this method.

Basement Jaxx make me wet with Raindrops

Basement Jaxx – Raindrops

Whaaaa! New Basement Jaxx!!! If you are all like “Why you flippin? Their last few albums weren’t even any good, bro.” Then you haven’t hit that little play button yet. Push it! The guys that brought us “Red Alert,” “Romeo,” “Take Me Back To Your House,” and awesome videos like this, are back with beautiful artwork to a beautiful song. “Raindrops” doesn’t even have their usual steez of guest vocals, that’s Felix Buxton (one of the Jaxx) and some vocal processor spitting crystal beauty at us. The epicness of this song is undeniable Jaxx but it does seem like they are changing up their game big time. Their MySpace has been stripped of all songs but “Raindrops” and the album field of the MP3 is labeled “The Return Of Basement Jaxx.” Snap! The actual name of their forthcoming LP is Scars and it supposedly features vocals from Santigold, Sam Sparro, Lightspeed Champion, Grace Jones, Yoko Ono, Yo! Majesty, and Cyndi Lauper. Fresh ta def.
