[PREMIERE] Bear Mountain – Give It Up (mAsis remix) // Philippe Jarrigeon

Long time TBE faves Bear Mountain just got remixed by new TBE favorites mAsis and its got me swimming in a dream state of pulsing grooves and spinning. The track starts with a slow yawn like a weekend morning and methodically builds its way towards the coffee pot.

Don’t sleep on the original for once you fully wake up from the dream.

“Give It Up” comes from Bear Moutain’s sophomore album Badu due out September 9th, pre-order the record here.

Bear Mountain – “Hopeful”

Bear Mountain said they wrote this new one about being “Hopeful” for the future and the paths ahead which is fitting because hopeful is exactly much how I feel whenever I hear their jams. Something about their upbeat grooves and down to earth vocals are surefire way to get my mood up. For severe cases of mood funk just go see them live because thats a damn treat. Looking forward to more from these guys this year!  Read more

[MP3] Bear Mountain – “Two Step”

a-a-a-a-a-ooh

♫ Bear Mountain – Two Step

It makes me happy to know that Vancouver’s Bear Mountain is out there in the world making music. The places they are going with these sounds are definitely less-trodden ground and much like Sky White Tiger I can’t think of many bands to properly compare them to. The artwork for their latest EP xo kinda does the best job. Understated landscape groove rock. With a dash of dub for the kids. Buy it for the music. Keep it around to hang on your wall.

[LP/COVER] Bear Mountain – LIVE AT THE CHINA CLOUD (w/ “Sing” & “Take Me Home” Germany Germany cover)

♫ Bear Mountain – Sing

  • Who: Ian, Doug, & Kyle.
  • What: Soulful loop-pop, like Germany Germany, Ray Lamontagne, Gotye.
  • Where: Vancouver, BC + Facebook / Bandcamp / Amazon
  • When: Live At The China Cloud is out now. A proper LP is slated for Spring.
  • Why: Live albums are generally rubbish for for diehard fans of outdated bands. And then there are the odd discs that actually turn you on to a new band, making you forget you are listening to a live recording long enough that when you remember you are, you say “Woah, all that was live?” Meet Bear Mountain. They make big (and often instrumental) swirling indie rock jams with a soulful heart and a pop edge. They also cover Germany Germany. Twice. Radical.

♫ Bear Mountain – Take Me Home (Germany Germany cover)

Second best song on the album is “Two Step” but you have no excuse not to get the whole thing because its free at their Bandcamp.
