[MP3] Karlsson & Winnberg – “The Dance (feat. Spank Rock)”

daddy look what i done, i’m moving to the drum

♫ Karlsson & Winnberg – The Dance (feat. Spank Rock)

Karlsson & Winnberg, a.k.a Bloodshy & Avant, a.k.a The guys in Miike Snow who twist all the knobs, a.k.a. the guys that produced Britney Spears’ “Toxic.” a.k.a F-ING geniuses, have a new single with that guy Spank Rock making whiney noises over their sweet bleeps and beats. Unfortunate vocals aside, I’m tripping on a new set of tweaky sounds from my favorite Swedes. Just do not try and synchronize any dance moves to this track! You will harm yourself. Seriously. I know.

The Best Remixes of 2010… Since Then (July-Dec.)

Damn. Another great year for remixes. Whether bringing the dance heat, adding a different texture, or completely flipping a song over, we were hit with all kinds of solid sonic reworkings. No surprise to see some of TBE’s heavy hitters like RAC, Don Diablo, Bloodshy & Avant, and The Soundmen and a warm welcome to some new names that nailed their mixes to my repeat button. All of the top 6, as well as a few others, are remixes of tracks that never really caught me in their original form but now have become some of my favorite jams of the year. A whole new life was infused into them and isn’t that what a great remix is all about?

Remix Roundup Vol. 26 – 9.18.2010 [Ra Ra Riot, Big K.R.I.T., RAC, The Ting Tings, Crystal Castles, ARMS, The Ting Tings, etc…]

So props to Joel & Scott for dropping some of their remix knowledge on us last week. Look forward to more from them as I slowly relinquish my iron grip on this site’s content and open us all up to more sweet sweet jams! In the meantime I have a fresh batch of remixes from my own satchel of fun to share with you all! Quick, get to it, it’s Saturday!

[MP3] SKY FERREIRA has ONE of my favorite production duos behind her

i feel like i’m about to rust, ruin my heart i’ll buy another one

♫ Sky Ferreira – One

Sky Ferreira’s big solo single is a ar cry from her tender-to-tears cover of Miike Snow’s “Animal” but it’s still got a certain magic that may or may not be the direct result of that band’s production duo; Bloodshy & Avant. OK, who are we kidding, it’s definitely Bloodshy & Avant working the magic here and if it wasn’t for those signature glitchy bleeps and bloops I wouldn’t be spending these precious minutes on a Friday night squeezing this post out. Speaking of which, it’s FRIDAY, why am I thinking this much about anything at all! Time to just crank it up and get funky. You too Sky, keep your chip up and your dance moves fresh. At a wee 18 years you have plenty of time to win our respect.

Woah, so things got a bit out of control with this Digest, there are just a lot of new jams coming out and it’s tough to keep track of them all. I also decided to include a new section of new songs from bands I have already written about but who have something new. Anyway, dive in and gimmie your two cents in the comments!

The 29 Best Remixes of 2009

I don’t know about you but 2009 was the year I fell in live with remixes. Starting TBE opened up my world to so many amazing reinterpretations of both great and not so great songs. Having always been more of a cover song guy this was new territory for me but I dove in headfirst and have been enjoying the ride so far. Good music is a personal thing and messing with great music is even more so. This is very much a subjective list and is based on nothing besides how much I love and respect the work done. Oh, and the numbering system is pretty much bullshit but I had to put them in some kind of order. Anyway, enjoy. I certainly have.

Miike Snow: The Band, The Facts, The Music

miikeI just got home from seeing Miike Snow for the 3rd time. As my mind recovers from their fantastic live show I figure we should go over the facts…

• Miike Snow is a band, not a man. They are made up of American Andrew Wyatt and Swedish producers/multi-instrumentalists Christian Karlsson & Pontus Winnberg (Bloodshy & Avant).

♫ Maroon 5 – Little Of Your Time (Bloodshy & Avant remix) ♡

• Andrew Wyatt, at 18, formed the Funkraphiliacs with Greg Kurstin (the “geggy” in Geggy Tah and Read more
