[MP3/RMX] BRITNEY SPEARS may somehow end up being relevant TILL THE WORLD ENDS

if you want this good shit, sicker than the remix, baby let me blow your mind tonight

Through questionable marriages, head shaving, mental breakdowns, an a tumultous start to motherhood, Britney Spears has somehow emerged unscathed and seemingly fresher than ever. Spears’s latest single “Till The World Ends” (video below) has been stuck in my head for the past few days and looks to have the staying power of classics like “Toxic.” It bangs and bounces in a big way, the chanting chorus an instant sing-along starter. If you haven’t heard it yet then dive into the video below.

What I like about 2011 Britney is she finally looks like a proper woman and not a girl trying to play up. It makes her look hotter than ever. It’s also nice to see her fun side come out, a sly smirk creeping through on multiple occasions. It’s funny to find out that Kesha co-wrote “Till The World Ends” because I can’t imagine her being able to carry this track with all the grace and power a pro like Spears does. It’s good to see the girl getting her shit together and doing what she does best.

♫ Britney Spears – Till The World Ends (DOCTOR ROSEN ROSEN Remix)

Props to Britney for calling out her original as “sicker than the remix” but remixer extraordinaire Doctor Rosen Rosen has put his spin on the jam, slowing things down for a bit of smoldering big-drum epicness that takes the song in a nice direction. If the original is lit by club lights then this remix lives under the light of a full moon. Well, whatever lights you got cooking this Saturday you should be set with little Britney on the playlist. After only one full listen, the rest of Spears’ seventh album, Femme Fatale, is also pretty solid. Perhaps a full review will come soon.

♫ M.I.A. – Internet Connection – (Flux Pavilion Remix) / Being music fanatics there are few things more annoying than a bad internet connection holding you back.  Honestly, we get frustrated just thinking about it.  That being said, there has probably been a lot of creative goodness to come from such a irritating problem.  This song being one.

♫ Brand New – Daisy (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix) / Ohh Canadia, thank you so much for giving us the production Dj duo from Montreal.  Thank you too, Baby Jesus.  We will be hearing much, much more from these dudes.

The 29 Best Remixes of 2009

I don’t know about you but 2009 was the year I fell in live with remixes. Starting TBE opened up my world to so many amazing reinterpretations of both great and not so great songs. Having always been more of a cover song guy this was new territory for me but I dove in headfirst and have been enjoying the ride so far. Good music is a personal thing and messing with great music is even more so. This is very much a subjective list and is based on nothing besides how much I love and respect the work done. Oh, and the numbering system is pretty much bullshit but I had to put them in some kind of order. Anyway, enjoy. I certainly have.

Miike Snow: The Band, The Facts, The Music

miikeI just got home from seeing Miike Snow for the 3rd time. As my mind recovers from their fantastic live show I figure we should go over the facts…

• Miike Snow is a band, not a man. They are made up of American Andrew Wyatt and Swedish producers/multi-instrumentalists Christian Karlsson & Pontus Winnberg (Bloodshy & Avant).

♫ Maroon 5 – Little Of Your Time (Bloodshy & Avant remix) ♡

Remix Roundup /// Vol. 8 – Reflect & Unwind

I can’t believe it’s August already. I can’t believe TBE is almost 6 months old. I can’t believe this is the 8th roundup of remixes. I can’t believe you are still reading this. OK, now I really can’t believe it. I cant. Seriously, nothing you say can make me believe you are still reading this. It’s called belief dude, it’s personal, I don’t have to explain or justify it. I mean, yeah, I guess if I saw you reading it I would ‘believe’ but that’s not even the point. The point is that there are so many fresh remixes down there and you are still reading this garbage. Some people, man, some people.

Miike Snow – Cult Logic

I love Miike Snow. I love them for their weird spelling and for their antlered-rabbit. I love them for their beautiful, epic, danceable music and it’s fantastic lyrics. I love them for the way their music has snuck so deftly and solidly into my life. There was a time when nobody knew much about Miike Snow. Over time we learned that the band was made up of Swedish production duo Bloodshy & Avant with the addition of American vocalist Andrew Wyatt. Bloodshy & Avant are the Grammy winners behind such pop mega-hits as Britney Spears’ “Toxic” and Wyatt most recently co-wrote and produced Daniel Merriweather‘s debut album (along with Mark Ronson). These dudes are no newbies when it comes to the music scene and it’s a treat to see them (kinda) stepping out from behind the scenes. They still remain elusive and are prone to obscuring their faces in photos but that only makes me like them more. Miike Snow is about the music and that makes me about Miike Snow.

If you grabbed DJ be’s Slow Burn Summer mix yesterday then you know Miike Snow’s remix of Vampire Weekend as well as Treasure Fingers’ remix of “Animal.” Their debut album comes out on June 9th but you can be smart like me and buy it on iTunes now (comes with a fresh digital booklet with lyrics!). I could attempt to describe the awesomeness of it all to you but luckily for both of us Miike Snow are streaming the whole jam on MySpace so if you don’t believe me then go believe the music. “Animal” (and it’s myriad brilliant remixes) was the first track to catch my attention, followed by “Burial” and now “Cult Logic,” an anthem of sorts for me these days. Did I mention they are touring? Yeah, I’ll be at Spaceland in L.A. on June 16th if anyone wants to join the party.
