The ferocity of Cry Wolf’s live show is a sight to behold but their recordings are often a bit too intense for my dub-averse ears. This Knife remix, however, rides a great line of gentle dub rubbing and otherwise crunchy industrial grooving. Enough weird to let your inner freak out but enough that your girlfriend will still sleep with you later. Double bonus!

LETS DO A SUMMER MIXTAPE with [RAC, Adventure Club, Goldroom, Viceroy, DWNTWN, Ghost Beach, Cry Wolf and Lights & Music]

When I first started the blog feature on Lights & Music last month, this mixtape was the first idea that I put into action.  Wikipedia, in-short describes mixtapes as usually reflecting the musical tastes of its compiler, a conceptual mix of songs linked by a theme or mood tailored to the tape’s intended recipient.  Yeah sure, we’ve all made mixtapes before.  But, what happens when you get a bunch of artists and bloggers to make a mixtape with the intended recipient being you?  Thats what I wanted to find out.  The concept is simple, yet I hadn’t really seen it anywhere else.

Everyone was given two selections.  They could either choose two tracks defining their summer so far in 2012 or one new and one all-time summer favorite.  Sounds simple enough in theory, but narrowing down your favorite jams to fit that criteria was tough.  That said, this was a fun project and I intend on making this a annual event.

Ch-ch-yeah.  Your favorite dub-dealer is back with those bass chunes.

Im down here in beautiful Austin, Tx (although the weather is miserably raining today) getting ready for our TBE Showcase.  This city takes on what is just an electric life during SXSW.  So many people and so much to do, the possibilites in this town are endless.  If you havent been, I highly recommend it.  Im about to go pick up Brandon up at the airport in about five minutes; which by the way, we’ve never met before.  I’ll update you on whether we want to punch each other in the faces tomorrow or not.

[Exclusive] The Killers – Mr. Brightside (Cry Wolf Remix)

The massive up-and-coming duo Cry Wolf have been hard at work on their remix project for the last several months.  We got our first taste of what was to come last month when we priemeired their remix of Mr. Little Jeans track “The Suburbs“.  As it turned out,.. it was one of the best dubstep remixes of the year and held the #1 spot on the Hype Machine for several days straight.  They followed that with a solid remix production of Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back“.  Today, we have been blessed with another gem that’s desperately bleeding for your ears.  Frankly it speaks for itself, Cry Wolf is here to stay.

We at TBE take pride in sometimes being the platform in which music acts like Adventure Club (among others) find their stride and blow up.

Enter Cry Wolf.  The duo from North Carolina have been working hard for the last few months on a heavy remix project, so we’ve been twiddling our thumbs waiting…  Finally, due to our superb patience, they dropped a previously unreleased track to temporarily quench our thirst for new chunes.

As it turns out, we’ve been blessed with arguably their best release yet. BOOM.
