I know, I know. It’s been too long. The Remix Roundups are back and I guarantee they will be more fun then ever. Here is Vol 71 for your weekend enjoyment and I already have Vol 72 coming together. Both of them are a kind of “house cleaning” of all the amazing remixes of 2013 that never got Roundup love. They will be followed by the Best Remixes of 2013 post. Thats a lot of music. Drink a lot of water and don’t forget to stretch.
Oh, and there are a few jams included in the ZIP below that aren’t on Soundcloud anymore so make sure you grab that…
If the Jammer download page is not working with Facebook connect then please let me know in the comments below. There have been some problems and I want to get them sorted.

Damn, these have been rocking my iTunes for months now but laziness/selfishness has kept them from being wrapped and gifted for your ears. No time to talk. Get down to the rock.

Man oh man. Could we be in a better world for fun remixes of great songs? Some of the old guard has been slacking in quality lately (RAC, where you at?) but new talent is cropping up in droves. Cyril Hahn practically made his name from that Destiny’s Child remix. Noah Hyde is on the map with amazing work. Manu el Chino nabs his second spot of 2012. Too many great tracks. Get on it for the weekend and check out all the bands and remixers you may have missed through the years. And especially listen to that Years & Years remix. What a genre flip. Mmmm…..
Be sure to catch all the 2012 “BEST OF†lists!

2012 was a fantastic year for party songs. It seems that music is having more fun than ever and I couldn’t be happier to share it with you all. We’ve all had some epic parties set to some epic party playlists and tonight is the night to top them all. (Or not, really. Nothing worse than NYE pressure.) So take a trip down the Read more

Like our friends in The Milk, Fred Falke was mostly off the radar for 2011 so it’s nice to hear him back and doing big things. As one of the best songs of 2011 “Trojans” didn’t really need improvement but this remix certainly kicks up its danceability. Screeching synths and big dance claps play with crafty buildups to perhaps make it even more of an earworm than before.
When I first started the blog feature on Lights & Music last month, this mixtape was the first idea that I put into action.  Wikipedia, in-short describes mixtapes as usually reflecting the musical tastes of its compiler, a conceptual mix of songs linked by a theme or mood tailored to the tape’s intended recipient.  Yeah sure, we’ve all made mixtapes before.  But, what happens when you get a bunch of artists and bloggers to make a mixtape with the intended recipient being you?  Thats what I wanted to find out.  The concept is simple, yet I hadn’t really seen it anywhere else.
Everyone was given two selections. Â They could either choose two tracks defining their summer so far in 2012 or one new and one all-time summer favorite. Â Sounds simple enough in theory, but narrowing down your favorite jams to fit that criteria was tough. Â That said, this was a fun project and I intend on making this a annual event.

I’ll never understand how indie crossover rapper Theophilius London got tied in with 2nd tier search engine Bing but if the result is a remix album with heavy hitters like Fred Falke, Bloody Beetroots, Crookers, and more, then I’m OK with it. I guess. While you decide whether it’s OK with you or not kick back to this pumped up dance version of Timez highlight “Love Is Real.” Then stream the whole thing here.
