Two of New York’s finest get together for a sweet song about the other coast and damn it’s spot on. They may live in the land of sweaty subways and snowy winters but they captured the spirit of the best coast just right. Feel free to do a whole album, guys.

If you are an avid TBE follower you may have noticed we have had some hackers on our site lately. So, we thought we would let you know we’ve hired some robot ninjas to judo chop the shit out if them. Oh, you didn’t hear? Malware Ninjas to the funking rescue! They have laser beams, flying baby space saucers (just like the movie Battery), boob guns, and really… anything your imaginative mind could ever muster. Damn. Another great year for remixes. Whether bringing the dance heat, adding a different texture, or completely flipping a song over, we were hit with all kinds of solid sonic reworkings. No surprise to see some of TBE’s heavy hitters like RAC, Don Diablo, Bloodshy & Avant, and The Soundmen and a warm welcome to some new names that nailed their mixes to my repeat button. All of the top 6, as well as a few others, are remixes of tracks that never really caught me in their original form but now have become some of my favorite jams of the year. A whole new life was infused into them and isn’t that what a great remix is all about?

The year comes to a close tomorrow and it’s time to start compiling those “Best Of” lists we all love. What better way to kick things off than with a mega-mix of the year’s best ass-shaking jams. Those tracks that just take a hold and force you to dip that hip, and just in time for New Year’s Eve!
Some are originals, some are remixes, and some are mashups. It’s no means a definitive list nor are the tracks in any sort of ranking. These are the tracks that have gotten my blood pumping all year long and so what better way to celebrate them than letting them ring in the new year! ♫ French Horn Rebellion – This Moment
We first posted on French Horn Rebellion over a year ago so this seems like a good *ahem* moment to check in with them. Well, the brothers from Brooklyn via Milwaukee just toured with Cut Copy and are finally releasing their debut LP The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion. “This Moment” showcases a tighter, more polished funk and groove that I am really feeling. The guys are perfectly layering twinkling chimes, bouncing bass-lines, and the requisite synth action. FHR are giving away another track, “Brasilia Girl,” on their MySpace but seeing as it’s rather ambient (read: boring) I’m guessing/hoping it’s some interstitial album track and is not a sign that they are giving up on good times. I say just play “This Moment” twice and just pretend you have two teaser tracks!
In true summer fashion this 3rd installment is coming a week later than promised but it’s all good cause you been chilling so hard that nobody noticed. Well get out of the pool, dry your hands, and get downloading cause the sun will be setting soon and you’ll want this sun-mellowed summer mix to close out your day. Throw your arm around your summer fling, settle into a chilled beverage, and let the sunset burn into your retinas. Don’t forget volumes 1 & 2!
