[VIDEO] Generationals – “Yours Forever”

Generationals just released the Lucky Numbers EP which features the fantastic title track as well as the much buzzed about “Sale City.” However, what I’m most concerned with at the moment is how I missed this video for “Yours Forever” off of last year’s Actor-Caster. Creature From The Black Lagoon is my all time favorite pinball game.

[STREAM] Generationals – “Lucky Numbers”

i know you’re never gonna live in l.a., i know you’re never gonna wait that long

  • Who: Ted, Ben, Grant, & Eric
  • What: Fun rock with soul, like Oberhofer, Hooded Fang, Throw Me The Statue

  • Why: Come on now! You all don’t need an introduction to Generationals! I’ve been grabbing you by the collar and mumbling about how much I love them for years now. Just slap my hands away, tell me you already know, and lets get to enjoying this new jam already! Super skippy synth fun!

[PLAYLIST] The Best SONGS of 2011 – Part 1 (Jan-June)

The best of the best… so far. My list ordering is always fast and loose so don’t sweat the numbers too much. For more on any of these artists use the tags links at the bottom of the post. Read on and rock out!

25 – ♫ Baby Monster – Mr. Success / These guys snuck in with a jam that just kept getting better with each listen. Oooooh ooooo ooooo!

24 – ♫ The Weeknd – House Of Balloons/Glass Table Girls / Dark, dirty, and not for public consumption. But damn if I can’t get enough.

23 – ♫ Motopony – King of Diamonds / Should be higher up on the list but with another Motopony track below I am basically sneaking this track in. An amazing song.

22 – ♫ Vacationer – Trip / A love song written by Read more

[LP] GENERATIONALS’ solid new album is still not as much of a GREENLEAF as i wanted it to be

raise our hands so they can see us, i’ll bet they want to know

♫ Generationals – Greenleaf

Generationals’ debut album flipped my musical landscape upside down and found itself recommended to anyone who would listen. It was a milestone album of 2009 and it’s timeless and genre-bending rock music soundtracked some great moments. So how is any band supposed to top that kind of impact? They aren’t. They can’t. And sadly that’s the situation between Generationals’ new album and I. I am quite fond of the thing but it didn’t have much of a fighting chance against the mark made by Con Law. Besides the top-notch standout opener “Ten-Twenty-Ten,” other album favorites are “You Say It Too” and “Tell Me Now.” Stream then and the rest of the album here and perhaps you won’t be so hard on the thing. Or maybe you will tell me I’m right. I dunno. I still love Generations and Astor-caster is a jam of an album but their debut is still my favorite.

[MP3] GENERATIONALS get a TEN in my book. a TWENTY even, if i could, but definitely a TEN.

is there any way to tell me that you’re gonna be a terrible friend?

♫ Generationals – Ten-Twenty-Ten

Generationals! From their Best Album of 2009 contending debut to their stellar EP from last year, Generationals are one of my favorite bands of the past few years. Besides putting out immensely enjoyable music, their patchwork blend of throwback sounds make them perfect band for recommending to anyone and everyone! The New Orleans based duo have a new LP coming out on March 29th and I’ve got some goodies to get you as pumped as me! “Ten-Twenty-Ten” is is a hip-swinging guitar and handlap fest that is prime for pumping loud in the car when you need a hint of sunshine on these chilly days. “Greenleaf” is a more straightforward piano and bass affair that still has crisp handclaps and plenty of good vibrations. I find it really heard describing Generationals’ music. It’s something so varied and different that to wrap it in words feels like I’m holding it back somehow. Just listen and get into it. Every song of theirs is worth multiple listens and will guaranteed grow on you with each one. And for heaven’s sake, get their debut if you haven’t yet.

The 25 Best Songs of 2010… Since Then (July-Dec.)

Here it is, for better or worse, for agreement or not, my list of the top 25 jams that rocked and/or rolled my ass during the second half of 2010. This is the 4th such list in TBE history and by far the most quality collection. There were  so many tracks that didn’t make the cut, and so many more that I think should be ranked higher. Can’t put ’em all in the top 10, now can I? Anyway, like all my lists, the ranking is loose. The quality, however, is tight as a drum… a tom-tom drum, perhaps…

25. ♫ Wiz Khalifa – Black & Yellow / Annnnd, this is why we don’t do year end lists before the YEAR ENDS. A late entry to my iTunes and an instant favorite. Swagger city up in this one! Push to start!

24. ♫ Fabolous – You Be Killin Em / Naw, Fabo, YOU be killen ’em. Niiice.

23. ♫ Muscles – Girl Crazy Go / Should be called “Brandon Crazy Go” cause that’s what happens. It’s like Read more

[MP3] GENERATIONALS are the best. TRUST.

if you can’t see it i can tell you you’re living in a way out world and you’re making it up as you go along

♫ Generationals – Trust

The Generationals are one of the best bands I have ever had the privilege of covering on TBE and now they have a new EP coming out. That makes me excited in a variety of ways. Follow the links above to get acquainted with their stunning-for-the-whole-family debut cause I gotta dive into “Trust” right now. The title track to the new EP is an introduction to the duo’s new addition, drummer Tess Brunet. So far so good! That big bouncing drum, dancing guitar line, and tambourine sparkle showcase a band working is beautifully perfect harmony. I recommend this jam and instant cure for the early-sunset blues that is besetting us all. Just close your eyes and drift away to somewhere special. Still no word on when the Trust EP will be out but I’m hoping to get a copy soon! And then it wont be too long before their sophomore LP Actor-Caster is out! Winter won’t be so bad after all!

The Best Albums of 2009 / The Top 15

This is it. The best of the best. As determined by me and in alphabetical-by-artist order. This list has been a labor of love and it is an honor to pay tribute to so many fantastic albums. With that said, don’t hesitate to lift your leg and leave your own mark in the comments. Or just track down the albums here that you don’t know and get down with a good set of headphone. I know these lists are self indulgent and often pointless but they are fun nonetheless. A big thank you to all the TBE readers who stick with me day after day and trudge through my ramblings. Ok, I’m out. Carry on! Read more
