With craziness of SXSW nearly a week behind us, its feels good to be home… and although I pride myself on my party prowess- I think it will take weeks to fully recover from that madness.  51 shows in four days… that has to be a record for an individual party.  In the mean time (back in reality), I’m supplementing my diet with extreme amounts of caffeine and sugar.  If Im diagnosed with diabetes in a week, we’ll certainly know why.
Its only thursday, but with the combo of caffeine and the sweet tuneage below, a spontanouse dance party at work is absolutely necessary. Â Get down with your self.

Brandon’s TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don’t necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold.
This may be the last Digest I do like this. I’d really like to take the time to give the best of these tracks the solo post they deserve. If anyone feels strongly about this news leave it in the comments below. Otherwise rock on Wayne and rock on Garth.

If the TBE 2011 Summer Mega-Mix taught us anything its that summer isn’t over until we say it is! This Tropical Assault mix is our final battle against the forces of autumn, seemingly lurking at every turn these past months. We will not down with out a fight and thankfully there are 14 finely tuned weapons at our disposal, poised and ready to be unleashed on any ear feeling the slightest bit of frost. So throw back the curtains, turn up the speakers, bask in that fantastic artwork, and let’s take summer by it’s horns.
Whereas the Mega-Mix flowed through genres like a summer’s day’s variety of cocktails, this mix is a more hardened and focused thing, culling the collective forces of all things tropical. Whether it be steel drums, bongos, sunny synths, or just a splash of sea water, these songs share that certain tropical something that has been infecting my ears so much lately. Summer on! Read more

OK, try this description on for size. Tell me how this hits the back of your ear holes. “Laid back island disco from Los Angeles.” If social security documents didn’t have a 23 character limit on middle names then that would definitely be mine. Oddly enough, it also applies to Goldroom. “Morgan’s Bay” slides out of the harbor on the breeze of some crisp percussion and loose guitars, instantly transporting me to a million different places that are not this desk. Toes in the water and face to the sun I drift in it’s currents, content to wash up on whatever shore may come. Bring it on, Morgan. You and your bay. All Morgan’s aside, Goldroom is actually Josh Legg. His other crew, Nightwaves, have been featured by TBE before but now Legg is out on his own. Goldroom’s blend of live instrumentation and mellowed out disco funk are as juicy and welcomed as an oversized peach on one of these hot pre-summer days. Feel free to toss that pit off the bow.
