We know Hannes from his legendarychart-toppingremixes and now he has taken a vocal sample and added all his own production. “A Love Like This” evokes some recent great 90s remixes with its blend of Something For The People’s “My Love Is The Shhh” vocals with Hannes’ slow burn late-night funky grooves. Hannes also did a little work on an old country jam to come up with “Cold Blood.” It’s a beautiful piece of music he has crafted around the great vocal sample. Keep an eye on this guy for sure…

So far, this year has been one of the best for remixes, making this list no easy feat. Speaking of feet, you should warm them up because they will moving in a second…

For every great Hannes Fischer remix of a recent jam, there is one he pulls out of the archives. This one is from half-French, half-Polish singer Soko and her 2007 international hit. I’ve never heard that original but with this remix treating me so right I don’t think I need to.

The new Major Lazer track “Get Free” is a big departure from the electronic wildin’ out of 2009. It’s also a departure from being engaging. Thank goodness for remix magicman Hannes Fischer who is currently batting 1000. Ride that slow burn style that made his “Video Games” remix one of the best of 2011.
Radiohead wasn’t at SXSW. But Hannes Fischer was… kinda. In spirit at least. I had more than one conversation in Austin about how damn good this guy is at flipping a jam and massaging out something completely magical. I am more of a fan with every remix. If every Radiohead song was this slippin’ good I would understand the hype. Keep killing it Hannes!
Ahem! Excuse me. If you thought you were taking a break because last weekend was New Years Eve then forget it. This is the first weekend of 2012 and it’s time to kick things off right. Below is a list of the best remixes of the past 6 months and they are quite restless so please let them out this weekend. Walks and feeding are optional.
Any glaring errors in judgement? Any additions you would make? Any good pizza in L.A.?
22. ♫ Beethoven – Moonlight Sonata (Sound Remedy Remix) / Don’t fuck with a classic unless you are going to do it justice. That goes double for my dog Beethoven. Good thing justice was served! Plus: wobbles I can stand.
17. ♫ M83 – Midnight City (Alcala Remix) / One of the top remixed songs of the year had stiff competition but Alcala’s slow build explodes the original into the stratospheric massiveness that it always hinted at.
11. ♫ Rihanna – We Found Love (Viceroy Remix) / Don’t hate. Dance. And make weird noises to the beat. No better or more refreshing take on this saturated jam.
8. ♫ Citizens! – True Romance (Gigamesh Remix) / From the moment Gigamesh drops that beat it’s all over. The windows are down and I’m practically climbing out the window to get the whipping wind on my face. Thank goodness for seat belts.
4. ♫ KAMP! – Cairo (Moullinex Remix) / This one gets stuck in your head and then lays little dancing critters that bust synchronized dance routines every time you poorly sing along.
1. ♫ The Notorious B.I.G – Everyday Struggle (Frogs in Socks BiG Bootleg) / Just as you get your head around the odd and minimal beat you realize that Biggie sounds clearly than ever and everything fits in such an awkwardly perfect way you wonder how such a thing could exist. Then you understand that the world is full of all sorts of miracles that nobody can explain.

Brandon’s TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don’t necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold.
This may be the last Digest I do like this. I’d really like to take the time to give the best of these tracks the solo post they deserve. If anyone feels strongly about this news leave it in the comments below. Otherwise rock on Wayne and rock on Garth.
For more jams by any of these artists use the ‘tags’ links at the bottom of the post!
♫ Arrange – Sun Showers / New Arrange track is as blissfully beautiful as you would expect but I still prefer hearing this guy in full albums. Getting lost in it.

I have got to start writing less in these descriptions. You guys come here for the music. Get to it.

NEW RELEVENT JAMS
♫ Wavves – I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl / Our man Wavves does beach-punk right with this love letter to everyones favorite drummer turned frontman (sorry Travis Barker). Wavves’ Life Sux EP is out now.
