Last we heard from Heffay we was holding down my Summer Mega-Mix with his feel good sunshine jam “Just You And Me.” Well, the guy is back and bringing a new palette of sounds to the table. Heffay trades a day at the beach for a night on the dance-floor with the appropriately titled At Night EP. The title track dips its feet in dubstep in a way that I can even get down with but the highlight for me is “Flight Of The Bears” (above) which builds and surges with synthy beats before breaking out into a clean dance number for sounds-tracking hooligan activity.

Closing out the brisk 3-track EP is Heffay’s fantastic “Rockin With Me” and its deft sampling of a classic Snoop Dogg jam. Just listen and enjoy. And party.

I don’t wanna hear one peep about how “summer is almost over!” or “but it’s not even sunny where I am” or “this mix is late” or “my eyes are melting from that album art.” Summer is a frame of mind and TBE is about to whip yours into shape! Now that you have grown tired of your own summer mix as well as all the ones that other blogs put out months ago, it’s time to get the summer mix to not only end all summer mixes, but to end summer itself! (Except thats not even true because I have a specially themed bonus summer mix for next week! Stay tuned…) The Burning Ear 2011 Summer Mega-Mix has something for everyone and happens in a few different waves so it’s best listened to in order.

Awww yeah. Feel that smooth slide into the summer sunrise with swinging horns, a sweet soul sample, and that funky shuffle-beat to keep things peppy. Heffay lays it down nice and clean for a jam that seems like perfect wake up music. I would feel ready to face the day head on and let it know I am prepared for action. Even if “action” only means strolling down to the corner shop and getting a sandwich and a soda. Grab 2 more smooth Heffay tracks at his Soundcloud. “Come On” Kicks up the funk and grinds some fresh synth pepper on it while “Craftidentiality” is all sexy slow burn.
