A Playlist for Stevie’s Postcard Project

So my little buddy Stevie is embarking a pretty big journey tomorrow and I’m trying to help him calm his nerves. He started this Kickstarter project to build some friends to send postcards to. If thats confusing you can check out his project because he explains it better than me. However, I did make him a playlist for his travels and figured I would share it with you guys!

When I played him the playlist he had a few comments I’ll include here. Enjoy and please do check out his project!

1. Coldplay – Postcards From Far Away

Yeah, thats me sending postcards from far away!

2. Paula & Karol – Goodnight Warsaw

Well not “Goodnight” because I haven’t met Warsaw yet so I’m gonna sing “Hello Warsaw!”

3. Rogue Wave – Postage Stamp World

Yea I think thats my new world…

4. Joywave – London

Its dark and weird but I like it. Did I just describe my future feelings on London?

5. Fake Blood – London

Even darker! Woah!

6. RDGLDGRN – Lootin In London

I’ll certainly try not to… and I’ll give stern looks to any looters I see!

7. Jukebox The Ghost – Postcard

A love song about Postcards! My favorite kind of love song!

8. Friendly Fires – Paris
9. Magic Man – Paris
10. Explosions In The Sky – Postcard From 1952
11. Little Dragon – Paris
12. Kate Nash – Paris

13. Jens Lekman – A Postcard to Nina

Yeah you gotta explain to Nina’s dad whats going on. Sounds confusing!

14. Is Tropical – Berlin
15. The Young Professionals – Fuck Off Berlin

Strong feelings about Berlin! I wonder if my feelings will be that strong…

16. Peter Bjorn And John – School Of Kraut

Its like German surf music! But I don’t think I will be surfing in Berlin…

17. Beirut – Postcards From Italy

I’m not going to Italy but I appreciate the mention of postcards.

18. Bayside – Phone Call From Poland

They should have called this song “A Postcard from Poland” but maybe that never happened to them. I could fix that!

19. Maximo Park – Postcard Of A Painting

I prefer postcards with pictures of rivers or trees or buildings. Just my personal preference.

20. Europe – The Final Countdown

GAH! The countdown is real and I only have hours to pack! Gotta go!

FEATURING: Jukebox The Ghost – Gigamesh – Gemini Club – Polarsets – DWNTWN – Slow Club – ANR – & many more!

[REMIX] Jukebox The Ghost – “Half Crazy” (SPEAK Remix)

my left eye’s gone lazy

♫ Jukebox The Ghost – Half Crazy (SPEAK Remix)

Jukebox The Ghost are already known for their piano pounding indie pop. They will soon be known for their set at The Burning Ear’s SXSW showcase. Until then you can know them as the band behind the wall of tweaked grooves that has been built on “Half Crazy.” The song title works perfectly among the distorted vocals and chopped rhythms of the remix. Listen alone at your own risk.

[MIX] SPRING, MY BELLE! /// A TBE Mix For Exploding Into Springtime

After months of gazing out the window and cursing the wintery grey sky we have finally been blessed with the warmth that thaws the bones in a most electric way. This is a mix for celebrating that moment that you open your front door and are slammed with the blinding sunshine that sparks your insides and makes you want to skip all the way to wherever you are going. I’ve kept in lean and mean at under an hour so add your own tracks as needed. Enjoy with reckless abandon. Read more

Just Burn It! The Upbeat Beatdown mix

Download the Upbeat Beatdown mix.

I know it’s been a while since the last Just Burn It! mix but you may have noticed all the changes to the site instead. Well as site tweaking settles down I’ll be making more mixes for y’all. Lets start with this one!

As spring arrives there are often days that turn out to be less warm than we would have hoped. I often find these days to be the most depressing. At least in winter you know what to expect but during these transitional times it can be tough. Hope is often higher than the mercury. On these depressing days it helps to have a soundtrack to pick you back up, and what’s better than a solid hour of upbeat music! There are dance-offs, face-offs, walk-offs and now an upbeat-off! Wait, that doesn’t sound right. Anyway, here are 19 tracks that are guaranteed to get you amped! From hand-claps to fist-pumps, it’s 60 minutes of pure upbeat psyched motivation! Make it your soundtrack to spring cleaning! Your place has kinda been looking like a dump…

Track list after the dump. I mean jump.

With Jenny Owen Youngs I could definitely be Led To The Sea

joy-transmitter-failure

whatever you say but walking away is still running

Jenny Owens Young – Led To The Sea

OK, so I totally just got chills. As if listening to Jenny Owen Youngs’ music wasn’t beautiful enough, she herself is stunning, she says “fuck,” lists Motion City Soundtrack as an influence, her tunes are on eMusic, and then to read that she is touring with TBE faves Jukebox The Ghost? Damn man, too fucking hot. I kinda can’t handle it. Ok, be strong man, talk about the song. Ok, the song, the song. I can do it….. SO, “Led To The Sea” is foot stomper of a track that showcases Jenny’s tal…. ok, I can’t do it. Sorry, I just watched this and I’m speechless. Best ever. And the goosebumps again.
