Remix Roundup Vol. 58 – 12.21.2011 [Dada Life, Fleetwood Mac, Yelle, Dada LIfe, and more…]

Holy hickory haystacks!  Major problems on the internet connection frontier today.  If you follow me on the twitter, you know that I was trying to have this up in the AM.  Where is M.I.A. and Flux Pavilion when you need them?

Anyway, we’ve got the holidays smacking us in our faces right now, which means the year is pretty much over,… Soo I just put together a steaming pile of bangers for your end of the year listening pleasure.  Open your ears and take these glorious gems to bed with you.

Attention: For those in the Seattle area- I’m throwing a huge party at The Tacoma Art Museum on New Years Eve.  You can find all the info you need HERE.  Warning:  Bass slaps in that face of yours will be frequent.  WORLD!!

♫ Gym Class Heroes (featuring Neon Hitch) – Ass Back Home (SmarterChild & Oxymorrons Remix) / Pretty impressive, especially when you consider that this tune is a collaberatoin of all pilot artists.  Don’t blink, SmarterChild is starting to look like a heavyweight.

Remix Roundup Vol. 50 – 9.1.2011 [Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, Theophilus London, Active Child, and more… ]

And we’re off. After far too long a break and a road trip from hell, I’m back. Not just in Washington state, but I’m here to blow those sweet little eardrums out.

It’s hard to believe its been a year since Scott and I joined Brandon and took over the remix responsibilities for TBE. Yet here we are a year later, a year wiser, 360 days more disinguished and more handsome than ever.

So, let’s do this.

Remix Roundup Vol. 50.

Keep it Nurdy

♫ Jason Derulo – Don’t Wanna Go Home (SmarterChild Remix) / SmarterChild gave us his amazing remix of City and Colour’s “Fragile Bird” a few weeks back under his other production name Richard Powda’.  This time he drops a floor pleaser sure to melt dance floors around the world.  Fan his Facebook.

♫ Battlekat – Into The Forest (DREAMTRAK DIAMOND SOUND Remix) / Its not often enough we get DDS mixes, but it apears to be worth the wait.  The synth build around the 2:40 mark is genius.  Raise that glass and cheers to the heavens. Read more

♫ Calvin Harris – Feel So Close (TABS Bootleg Remix) / I have a hard time seeing anyone topping  this TABS rework of “Feel So Close”.  This is the kind of remix that puts a fat grin on my face and a wiggle in my hips.

♫ Pendulum – The Island (Madeon remix) / Madeon is a 16 year old producer from France,… a wait, 16?!  Are you F’n kidding???  This kid, ain’t a kid at all.  Dude is a pro.  Props.

[STREAM/VIDEO] Gotye – “Somebody That I Used To Know (ft. Kimbra)”

told myself that you were right for me, but felt so lonely in your company, but that was love and it’s an ache i still remember

Taking a big momentum shift from last year’s list-topping “Eyes Wide Open,” Australia’s Gotye has returned with a song that hops and shuffles with delicate elegance. It took a few listens for me to really stop and listen (if you know what I mean) but once I did the whole thing took my breath right out of my lungs. Gotye’s vocals and lyrics are spot on as they wring every drop of sorrow from his broken relationship. When Kimbra comes in for the counter-point the whole things crystallizes into something truly magical. I highly recommend the video below for a visual take on the fractured love story. And for a glimpse of what one YouTube user accurately called Kimbra’s “amazing side-lip.” Stunning. All of it.
