[VIDEO] Music Video Roundup – 02.27.13 [Haim, The 1975, Woodkid, Asbjørn, Matt & Kim]

Music-Video-RoundupI hope you guys are keeping up with these. I know I’ve been dropping feature length video roundups on the regular lately but its not my damn fault. I dont make these things! I just eat my breakfast to them! And then spread them around, sharing the love and magic. Because goodness knows we dont need another indie band live performance video or pop song shot in “du club.” Creativity will always be Read more

Remix Roundup Vol. 67 – 6.26.2012 [Matt & Kim, Feist, St. Lucia, J.Cole, and more…]

And just like that.  I’m back with more remix madness for your Burning Ears. Remix Roundups are a collection of the freshest remixes on the planet.  You can search high and low in this world or another, but you won’t find a remix series this dope in this galaxy or the next –  For we are from only space.

For more jams or by any of these artists use the ‘tags’ links at the bottom of the post!  Follow @JoelAlbers on Twitter for updates on remixes, dubstep and all things Nurdy.

Passion Pit – Take A Walk (The M Machine Remix)  / First we had the glorious Pecking Duk remix and now this and its not even Christmas.  The M Machine, hailing from the Bay Area have created a straight up slappin mix here.

La Roux – I’m Not Your Toy (Data Remix)  / Not a new tune by any means, but what a chune it is… How this song somehow slipped through the Lights & Music cracks blows my mind.  Without further ado, enjoy.

Remix Roundup Vol. 51 – 9.13.2011 [Madonna, Dada Life, Matt & Kim, The Drums, and more…]

Welcome back TBE vets and greetings, bonjour, buenas noches, shalom, what’s happening TBE infants.  First, we’re grateful for everyone of you.  Second, we have a slight change in the Remix Roundup methodology I wanted to let you know about.

Previously, we had been working from a Friday bi-weekly format that many of you have come very a accustomed to.  But, as awesome as those Friday roundups were, keeping to that schedule sometimes proved to be quite difficult.  Not to mention resulting in many Roundups being far too large.   I decided to clean things up.

The New Philosophy is simple… I will post a new R-R everytime I have 15 new TBE worthy remixes.  There is no set schedule.  Does this mean I will post less often???  No, actually its quite the contrary.  If you want to stay up to date on all remix roundups, then follow me on twitter @JoelAlbers

Anyway, enough with the serious talk…  Remix Roundup Vol. 51 is about to blow your head off.  PUSSSHH PLAY.

For more jams or by any of these artists use the ‘tags’ links at the bottom of the post!  Follow me on Twitter @JoelAlbers for updates.

♫ Madonna – Like A Prayer (Viceroy + Alkamyme Remix) / I’ve been looking for a decade for a quality remix of this song.  The search is over.

♫ Dada Life – Fight Club Is Closed (Religion Remix) / This one puts a huge mischievous grin on my face.  This is what I call a 4-On-The-Floor BANGER.  This may just coast its way into that all important Top 50 remixes of 2011 list.

[MILESTONE] The Burning Ear’s 1000th post! A Celebration Mix!

Wow. Another mind-bending milestone in the TBE saga. 1000 is a big number but in the grand scheme of things it will only be the tip of the iceberg. Running this site for the past 28 months has been an honor and privilege and we all look forward to dropping more sweet jams for a long time to come. For now lets celebrate with a little mixtape I put together below. There is a theme in there somewhere…

There are some potential changes to the site underway but until I get a breather from work I won’t be able to think about any of that. I can say that today I will be retiring my tradition of post titles. There were a thing I started waaay back when and although they are sometimes fun I feel like a more straightforward title may be smoother for everyone involved. The Internet is confusing enough without me trying to “clever” with my post titles. Try to hold back the tears, I know. Anyway, to the music! Read more

[MP3] MATT & KIM find it hard to use CAMERAS when they are rocking so hard

i decided to start writing less and i’m talking more everyday

♫ Matt and Kim – Cameras

Matt & Kim are back! While I’ve never fallen in love with any of their albums, I have always been a huge fan simply because they are the most fun band to watch perform. Ever. If you have never seen the video for their debut’s highlight “Yea Yeah” then fix that now. While you are at it, make sure you watch their video for last years “Lessons Learned.” Brilliant. Ok, back to the music. Matt & Kim have always been so scrappy and ragged that it’s a (pleasant) surprise that they were so embraced by the mainstream. Their recent notoriety would make it prime time to drop an overproduced mess of songs on forthcoming LP Sidewalks but I trust the Brooklyn duo to keep it real. The albums first single, “Cameras,” shows off a happy medium of their signature ragged drums n’ keyboards combo as well as some nice horns and some other weird effects. It’s the most “full” Matt & Kim song ever but still sticks to their sound. I’m officially stoked on Sidewalks (out Nov. 2) and looking forward to some down and dirty house parties with this blasting on the boombox!

Just Burn It! The Upbeat Beatdown mix

Download the Upbeat Beatdown mix.

I know it’s been a while since the last Just Burn It! mix but you may have noticed all the changes to the site instead. Well as site tweaking settles down I’ll be making more mixes for y’all. Lets start with this one!

As spring arrives there are often days that turn out to be less warm than we would have hoped. I often find these days to be the most depressing. At least in winter you know what to expect but during these transitional times it can be tough. Hope is often higher than the mercury. On these depressing days it helps to have a soundtrack to pick you back up, and what’s better than a solid hour of upbeat music! There are dance-offs, face-offs, walk-offs and now an upbeat-off! Wait, that doesn’t sound right. Anyway, here are 19 tracks that are guaranteed to get you amped! From hand-claps to fist-pumps, it’s 60 minutes of pure upbeat psyched motivation! Make it your soundtrack to spring cleaning! Your place has kinda been looking like a dump…

Track list after the dump. I mean jump.

Remix Roundup! ∞ Vol. 1

Yo, for real, it’s the weekend and its time to shake your moneymaker (not implying y’all are strippers or whatever). I stumble across a ton of awesome remixes as I surf this information ether-highway of ours. I don’t like giving them dedicated posts cause 1) not everyone is super into remixes and 2) I don’t want to dilute the attention that should be given to new artists. You feel me? I knew you would. So anyway, I am starting another new feature at TBE where I round up some of the sweetest remixes of late and toss ’em at you without any of the usual garnish you find in a normal post. Who knows how often I’ll do it but they wont all be this big, I just had a lot of goodies to share. Anyway, listen, love, download, dance! Just do it after the jump.
