Brandon’s TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don’t necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold.
It’s a big one folks. Proceed with caution (and good speakers). Also note the new Digest logo that will be here to stay. Enough of that little weird cartoon guy we had for so long, amiright!? Cheers to new beginnings! And new jams!

♫ Chase & Status – Time (Hot Mess Remix)
♫ Oh Land – Rainbow
Oh Land is currently Denmark’s hottest export and after hordes of us were caught in her gravitational pull with last year’s “Sun Of A Gun” her debut has been highly anticipated. If you were looking for the high intensity of “Sun Of A Gun” multiplied over all 11 tracks then you will be let down. Instead, the album largely sways and simmers as mellow indie pop drifts along to light beats and Oh Land’s pixie voice. Album closer “Rainbow” is one of my favorites, it’s xylophone plinking and finger snaps creating a delicate and crisp accompaniment to the bubbling vocals. An excellent way to wrap up the pleasant mix of moods and vibes that have been spread throughout the album. White Nights by OhLand
“White Nights” is the disc’s second single and is upbeat and fun while still maintaining it’s weight; a song that you should feel no hesitation get up and stomp around to at full volume. “Wolf & I” and the bounce-along gem  “We Turn It Up” are other favorites that are worth checking out to get a feel for Oh Land. The album isn’t breaking new ground or flipping anyone on their ears but it is certainly a solid collection of tunes that sets Oh Land on a higher shelf than some of the disappointing debuts of her female indie-pop peers. I’d like to see a little more edge and funk find their way into her jams but I guess that’s why we have awesome remixes. Everyone wins!
What’s up Party people?
Joel & Scott are proud to present Remix Roundup volume 32!
A roundup stacked from top to bottom with curvaceous beats and synth appeal, this Friday’s roundup is hotter than the girl next door, your best friends older sister and Gisele put together! Turkey day may be over, but that doesn’t mean that you cant stuff your brains with epic tales and tunes that make our latest roundup edition.

♫ Trophy Wife- Microlite (Zen Death Squad Remix) / Brandon intruduced us all to Trophy Wife back in September. He also featured the acoustic version of “Microlite” in his TBE Digest. This week we’re blowing things up with this explosive remix by London’s Zen Death Squad.
♫ Ellie Goulding- Salt Skin (Azedia Remix) / There is a disturbing amount of good music coming out of the UK right now and Azedia are no exception to the rule. The production trio from London provide us with one of the better remixes of 2010. Enjoy.
While I can sing the praises of Oh Land’s “Sun Of  Gun,” it’s Mike at The Recommender that does her beauty justice in his post on her. The girl is stunning and it’s a bit difficult to watch her perform her perfect pop nuggets (video below) without getting lost in her glowing Scandinavian features. Well, and that “oooh ooh” over the pulsating beat and sparse xylaphone is just perfect. Add in the fact that Naana Oland Fabricius writes and performs all her own music and her debut EP is out now and we’ve got something special here. I mean her real name is one of my favorite vocal garnishes! She is definitely worth keeping an eye on, for more than one reason. Read more
