[VIDEO] OK GO – “The Writing’s On The Wall”

If you have been on the Internet in the past 10 years then you already know that Ok Go make amazing music videos. Their music and their insane visuals have been intertwined since 8 treadmills became one of YouTube first ever viral videos.

On Tuesday night, I was lucky enough to be invited to MOCA for the world premiere of their latest video “The Writing’s On The Wall”. It is awesome. Just watch it already. But what was more awesome was watching a 7-video Ok Go music video retrospective that intro-ed the premiere. Watching these videos in a theater full of people was truly special. I had seen all the music videos before, but always on a computer screen with maybe 1 or 2 other people around. The collective experience of watching all these clips really drove home how important this band is to pushing the boundaries of what is an acceptable effort for a music video.

[VIDEO] OK-Go – “Needing/Getting”

If you glanced up from devouring your buffalo wings on Sunday you may have caught a glimpse of who you could have sworn was OK Go in a Chevy ad. You were right. (About the wings and the sighting.) Here is the full video and it packs way more punch then a Super Bowl game. PLUS: no stunt doubles! Way to keep upping your game OK Go! And thanks, I guess, to Chevy.

} TBE Digest 6 – 2.24.10 [Gorillaz, Lil Wayne, Major Lazer, B.o.B., Broken Social Scene, …]

These Digest’s are tough to do because there are really only two emotions I feel while writing them: disappointment and bewilderment. The former for bands I love that are delivering sub-par baloney and the latter for bands other people love who are delivering sub-par baloney. These opinions are of course only my own and that’s why I persist with this series, because others may be really into these tracks and that is great. Different strokes, ya know. On the other hand, some may just be curious as to what different bands are up to these days. Read it for any reason you want, but know that I write it out of a simple desire to pass along the recent happenings in my musical world that I don’t feel are worthy of their own post. (There seemed to have been some confusion last time) Anyway, read on, trudge through, wade in, sally forth, whatever, just know that this edition is exceptionally long for whatever reason but there are some fun covers awaiting you at the end.
