Young & Sick – “Letting Go Of Giving Up” + “Sleepyhead” Passion Pit cover // Art: Fang Fu

New Young & Sick jam from his even newer No Static EP… which was promptly followed by his most newest cover of Passion Pit’s “Sleepyhead”. Get loose.

Also, get into the amazing artwork Young & Sick did for Vinyl Moon 031: The Nature Of Inner Space.

[PREMIERE] Kid Cadaver – “Stable” (Don Loemax remix)

[soundcloud id=’134505793′]

Kid Cadaver snuck onto the scene in 2013 with one of the most enduring and catchy indie rock jams of the year. If you have seen their sweat soaked live sets, then you know how much more known these guys deserve to be. Hopefully this adventurous remix by newcomer Don Loemax gets them some more ears.

Happy Presidents day! Get weird!

[2,000th POST!] Remix Roundup RETURN – Vol. 68

Holy cow. 2,000 is a big number. And I know some of you have read/listened to all of them. Thank you guys for the endless support and for giving me a reason to listen to so much crap to find the jams. In celebration of this historic milestone I will be bringing back the Remix Roundups. Sure, a remix may still get its own post from time to time but generally they will be bundled up here as a little party playlist for the weekend or a vacation for your ears while your body slaves at work/school.

This week we have recent TBE fave Noah Hyde remixing a new discovery Wake Owl. 2012 heavy hitter Cyril Hahn funks up that new Haim joint. The Penguin Prison remix of “It’s Time” wont ever be beat but Plastic People give it a solid rework. My beloved Monarchy are finally back! It’s just this Mighty Mouse remix for now but I’m pretty damn excited for more. Atlas Genius get reworked by soon-to-be-covered Wild Cub who in turn get tropical-ized by Kisses. Then Erol Sabadosh takes us from new school Rihanna to old school R. Kelly with some golden Top 40 remixes. Freak funk genie Yalls scuffs up Rhye nicely and a Passion Pit remix by newbie Dream Logic closes us out. Enjoy!

[REMIX] Passion Pit – “Constant Conversations” (Little Daylight Remix)

yeah they love you when they need you, but someday you’re gonna need to find some other kind of place to go

♫ Passion Pit – Constant Conversations (Little Daylight Remix)

“Carried Away” is my favorite song on the disappointing new Passion Pit album but luckily the snoozer “Constant Conversations” gets pepped up here. Little Daylight already did right by Freelance Whales so no surprise their hot streak continues with this funky gem. I love those drums and grindy synths.

[MASHUP] The Hood Internet – “I’ll Be Country (Big KRIT vs Passion Pit)”

let me tell you bout this old school, pourin’ lean, candy yams and collard greens, pocket fulla stones ridin’ clean

♫ The Hood Internet – I’ll Be Country (Big KRIT vs Passion Pit)

In lieu of posting a whiny and dissapoined review of the new Passion Pit album I’m gonna go with this kicked up K.R.I.T. mashup courtesy of kings of the genre Hood Internet. One of my favorite songs of 2010 perfectly spices up one of the more disappointing ones of 2012. Time travel on the dance floor!

[VIDEO] Passion Pit – “I’ll Be Alright”

The new Passion Pit album is out and whether that excites you or not let this oddball video wrap itself around your dome.

LETS DO A SUMMER MIXTAPE with [RAC, Adventure Club, Goldroom, Viceroy, DWNTWN, Ghost Beach, Cry Wolf and Lights & Music]

When I first started the blog feature on Lights & Music last month, this mixtape was the first idea that I put into action.  Wikipedia, in-short describes mixtapes as usually reflecting the musical tastes of its compiler, a conceptual mix of songs linked by a theme or mood tailored to the tape’s intended recipient.  Yeah sure, we’ve all made mixtapes before.  But, what happens when you get a bunch of artists and bloggers to make a mixtape with the intended recipient being you?  Thats what I wanted to find out.  The concept is simple, yet I hadn’t really seen it anywhere else.

Everyone was given two selections.  They could either choose two tracks defining their summer so far in 2012 or one new and one all-time summer favorite.  Sounds simple enough in theory, but narrowing down your favorite jams to fit that criteria was tough.  That said, this was a fun project and I intend on making this a annual event.

Without further ado, please enjoy and share with others. Read more

Remix Roundup Vol. 67 – 6.26.2012 [Matt & Kim, Feist, St. Lucia, J.Cole, and more…]

And just like that.  I’m back with more remix madness for your Burning Ears. Remix Roundups are a collection of the freshest remixes on the planet.  You can search high and low in this world or another, but you won’t find a remix series this dope in this galaxy or the next –  For we are from only space.

For more jams or by any of these artists use the ‘tags’ links at the bottom of the post!  Follow @JoelAlbers on Twitter for updates on remixes, dubstep and all things Nurdy.

Passion Pit – Take A Walk (The M Machine Remix)  / First we had the glorious Pecking Duk remix and now this and its not even Christmas.  The M Machine, hailing from the Bay Area have created a straight up slappin mix here.

La Roux – I’m Not Your Toy (Data Remix)  / Not a new tune by any means, but what a chune it is… How this song somehow slipped through the Lights & Music cracks blows my mind.  Without further ado, enjoy.
