After being pretty stoked on Cold War Kids’ 2010 EP and it’s standout track “Audience of One” I was a bit let down by “Royal Blue” the first taste of their latest LP, Mine Is Yours. 2nd taste “Louder Than Ever” didn’t do much for me either. Then came Passion Pit’s remix of the title track and I was stopped dead. It is a stunning track that while clearly bearing many marks of The Pit, hinted at solid base material. And so I dove into Mine Is Yours with renewed hopes, as well as a better appreciation for both “Royal Blue” and “Louder Than Ever” which had both grown on me over time.
So it turns out that Mine Is Yours is kind of a funny album. My trouble in pinning it down is why it’s taken me this long to post on it. On the one hand, I really like it. Tracks like “Mine Is Yours,” “Bulldozer,” and “Broken Open” are snippets of the band exploring new sounds and taking me right along with them. On the other hand, the album clearly lacks the ramshackle urgency of the debut LP that won everybody’s hearts. Considering that most of you have already heard the album and formed your own opinions I’ll keep this brief. Dig into these tracks and if they strike your fancy then just stream 90 second clips of every song right here. I think this album is one everyone will have to figure out for themselves.

NEW RELEVENT JAMS
♫ Peter Bjorn & John – Breaker Breaker / PBnJ are back and wielding way more buzzsaw like-ability than on their last sleeping pill! Wooo! Second taste “Second Chance” is also a jam! Gimmie Some is out 3/29.
Welcome back party peeps. We, Joel & Scott are proud to bring you our Top 50 Remixes of 2010.
Totally wish we could think of some rad shite to introduce this wicked cool Top 50 list with, but we’re both having some serious writers block here. Typically in this situation we would just drink or get some sort of major caffeine stimulation (often both). Not gonna lie, we enjoyed the hell out of our super strong energy/alcoholic beverages, but thanks to Central Washington University students the shite is outlawed. Please, we’d love to hear your side of the story.  Anyway,… by now if you are a TBE follower you know that we are two dudes (Joel & Scott) originally from Seattle that just love to get Nurdy’ and melt our faces on that dirty d-floor.  And yeah, remixes to us are what platinum haired Bunnies are to Hugh Hefner.
Lastly, you might think its a little late for a “Best of List”, but that was a deliberate move on our part. We at TBE don’t believe in a “Best of List” before the New Year and we really wanted to take our time. 2010 was an incredible year for DJs and remix artists around the world. Our top two remixes this year may very well be two of our top remixes of all time. Its amazing to see the support DJs are now getting around the globe. Don’t forget that they’re the ones that keep us dancing.
Keep dancing all, and if any of the following songs change your life YOU’RE WELCOME. (Don’t forget to check out our Top 10 Dubstep Remixes of 2010)

It’s a new year and a lot of good stuff piled up over the holidays. Considering it’s the 18th Digest, today is the 18th (close enough…), and I have 18 tracks, I think this is some kind of perfect Digest or something. Dig in. But really, dig. There are some real gems in the mix down there.

It’s Christmas time. I’m in a cabin in the woods. My stolen internet connection is worthless. My family is going through some stuff. I love you all but I’m just not able to give this post all the detailing that it deserves. I hope that you are too busy with your own holiday festivities to care and can just kick back and enjoy this collection of jams for the interesting mix that they are. Dive in and enjoy. I know I’ve been.

I’m trying something new with this weeks Digest! Peep the tidy Soundcloud player above for individual tracks and comments from me (beginning of each track). Zip file is still downloadable below!
Please let me know what you think of this tighter, sleeker, TBE Digest experience! A massive pain in the ass or a step in a good direction? (It’s certainly a hell of a lot easier to put together…)
