Phantogram – “Fall In Love” (OANA Remix)

Sounds Like… Schroeder from Peanuts ditched the gang for Brooklyn and teamed up with Phantogram for a new mix of “Fall In Love” that was meant for a montage of his bus journey to the big city.

Location: Between Brooklyn and wherever Charlie Brown still (sadly) lives.

Future: Bitches, money, fame. And probably drugs.

10 Reasons Why Lighting In A Bottle is The Festival to Be At This Year

Blah blah blah Coachella. Thats all anyone can talk about this time of year but frankly that festival is not for everyone… In looking for an alternative to 3 days walking the desert runway (and 3 weeks fishing dust out of my nose) I saw that Lightning In A Bottle has a killer lineup this year. The festival takes place on a forest and by a lake. That is exactly the kind of setting I want for my music festivals! Keep your sand storms! I’m climbing tree, going swimming, and laying  in the shade while listening to these rad bands that you wont find is the dustbowl of Indio this weekend…

1. Moby

Call him a legacy act if you have to but besides being one of the finest (and biggest) acts of the 90s, Moby is still kicking out jams. And unlike the unfortunate Fatboy Slim set at Coachella, I bet you he wont be pandering to contemporary EDM trash with his set.

2. Phantogram

Now this is a festival band! Big sound and perfect for rocking out with hundreds of strangers who all know the words!

3. Gold Panda

Festivals are all about getting a bit weird and Gold Panda is the perfect soundtrack to any adventure deep into the forest/mind/someone else’s tent…

4. The Polish Ambassador

All the music this killer beat-smith releases is available for “name your price” which means he wont break your bank when you fall in love with his jams and need all him music after the fest.

5. Ryan Hemsworth

Time for another trip…

6. Chet Faker

Soulful and oh so damn sexual. Chet Faker is probably my favorite voice these days. Also best beard. I’m looking forward to catching both live.

7. Kraak & Smaak

8. Marley Carroll

You have no idea how excited I am for Marley Carroll! These two jams below are enough that he should be top of the bill yet somehow he hasn’t blown up yet. So damn groovy and addictive!

9. Story Of The Running Wolf

A lot of people like to enjoy mind altering substances at festivals but you may want to keep your dosage low before watching Story Of The Running Wolf perform… Just a heads up…

10. Slow Magic

Watching this music lie in a forrest will either be totally cool or totally haunting but either way its gonna feel crazy.

If that linuep doesn’t get you jazzed then check out the full lineup here! Even more awesomeness like Little Dragon and The Gaslamp Killer.

Phantogram – “Black Out Days”

Phantogram

New Phantogram. Sexy as hell. So stoked to see them at the Hollywood Bowl with M83 next week.

Big Boi – “C.P.U.” ft Phantogram + “Shoes For Running” ft. Wavves & B.o.B

Big Boi Dangerous

as i scroll through the centerfolds, wishing that the screen was three-dimensional, i know it doesn’t seem too conventional, but it’ll do until i get you in the physical

If you are one of the many who pretty much ignored Big Boi’s latest album then I’ve gotta draw your attention to these two tracks. Most of the rest is just a depressing reminder that Vicious Lies is definitely not Sir Lucious Leftfoot 2. Who ever knows why these follow ups often fall off so hard. I do know that Phantogram steams up the glass on slippery sex-jam “C.P.U.” and Wavves’ garage scruff is an awesome addition to “Shoes For Running.” Add on “She Hates Me” and “She Said OK” and Big Boi could have had an airtight gold medal EP. Guaranteed nobody needs all 17 tracks here.

Brandon’s TBE Digest 30 – [11.3.2011] New Jams, Remixes, & Covers!

Artwork by Jacob Youngblood Ziegler

Brandon’s TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don’t necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold.

A big batch of goodies this time round. Plus, since it’s a nice round number Jacob Youngblood Ziegler hooked us up with a fancy Anniversary Edition of the TBE Digest art. Stare at it in awe as you listen.

♫ Phantogram – Don’t Move / Phantogram return with the Nightlife EP and this is a great sign of the continued sexiness these two are working with.

♫ Body Language – Seeds of Sight / More spaced out sex funk from one of Brooklyn’s finest.

♫ Vacationer – Gone  While not nearly as good as previous track “Trip” this shows good promise of more magic to come from this Body Language collaborator.

PHANTOGRAM revisited

♫ Phantogram- When I’m Small

I’ve been itching to revisit this album since Brandon posted it way back on March 1st featuring the amazing “Mouthful of Diamonds“.

Given the time, I have been able to completely soak in the album Eyelid Movies and was even fortunate enough to catch them live. This led me to land closer to Pitchforks 7.5 album rating (perhaps higher).  Maybe I’m a sucker for their unique street-beat rhythms, and psychedelic melodies… or could it be Sarah Barthel’s (vocals, keyboards) stage command and hypnotizing good looks?  Regardless, its bands like Phantogram that give me optimism about the future of music in the U.S.   Phantogram’s passion for what they do is never more apparent than when you witness Sarah own the stage and every pair of eyes in the venue.   The stars of the album “When I’m Small”, “As Far as I Can See” and “You Are the Ocean” all fight for album supremacy with the exceptional “Mouthful of Diamonds”; paving the way for a very solid album.  So, if you haven’t gotten on the Phantogram band-wagon yet, perhaps its time for you to get on the wagon.
