SPEAK – “Gates” (Ra Ra Riot Remix)

I love when great bands are friends with each other because then magical little nuggets of bass funk get made and we get to ride them into our own Nintendo dreamscapes.

Ra Ra Riot – “I Shut Off”

Ra Ra Riot - I Shut Offoh, i have tried to command but you fought back, oh what for?

Ok, let’s be honest, nothing will beat Ra Ra Riot’s debut LP Rhumb Line. At first listen I felt like their 3rd album Beta Love was another disappointment but it is really growing on me with each listen. Deep cut “I Shut Off” is a firm reminder that despite efforts to shift their sound these guys still got it. Stream the whole album here.

[REMIX] Ra Ra Riot & Delicate Steve – Valerie (Steve Winwood cover) (Friendly Ghost remix w/ Eric Prydz)

so cool she was like jazz on a summer’s day, music high and sweet then she just blew away

Sometimes too many cooks spoil the stew. And sometimes too many cooks means that there are just more naked people in the hot tub. Enjoy. Just don’t get pruny.

[REMIX] Ra Ra Riot – “Oh, La” (The Submarines Remix)

we’ve got a lot to learn from each other, we’ve got to stick together

♫ Ra Ra Riot – Oh, La (The Submarines Remix)

Any excuse for more Ra Ra Riot in my life is a good one. Their recent mutual remix back scratching with The Submarines is a perfect example. Grab Ra Ra’s reworking of “Submarine Symphonika” here. But enjoy this one first. Maybe twice.

Brandon’s TBE Digest 29 – [10.11.2011] New Jams, Remixes, & Covers!

Artwork by Jacob Youngblood Ziegler

Brandon’s TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don’t necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold.

It’s a big one folks. Proceed with caution (and good speakers). Also note the new Digest logo that will be here to stay. Enough of that little weird cartoon guy we had for so long, amiright!? Cheers to new beginnings! And new jams!

[MP3] Mathieu Santos – “I Can Hear The Trains Coming”

where did you learn to do something like that?

♫ Mathieu Santos – I Can Hear The Trains Coming

Ra Ra Riot’s Mathieu Santos is putting out an album of his own stuff and this jam is the first taste. Why do a solo project when your band is still going strong? Because You have upbeat grooves like this you want to unleash on the world. I can get behind that. Massachusetts is available now and you can bet I’ll be checking it out.

Boy, this one was a long time coming. Either you are all quite patient or you didn’t notice. Either way I have been busy as heck which just means that all the tracks I had compiled got whittled down to just the gems. Rock.
