Holy cow. 2,000 is a big number. And I know some of you have read/listened to all of them. Thank you guys for the endless support and for giving me a reason to listen to so much crap to find the jams. In celebration of this historic milestone I will be bringing back the Remix Roundups. Sure, a remix may still get its own post from time to time but generally they will be bundled up here as a little party playlist for the weekend or a vacation for your ears while your body slaves at work/school.
This week we have recent TBE fave Noah Hyde remixing a new discovery Wake Owl. 2012 heavy hitter Cyril Hahn funks up that new Haim joint. The Penguin Prison remix of “It’s Time” wont ever be beat but Plastic People give it a solid rework. My beloved Monarchy are finally back! It’s just this Mighty Mouse remix for now but I’m pretty damn excited for more. Atlas Genius get reworked by soon-to-be-covered Wild Cub who in turn get tropical-ized by Kisses. Then Erol Sabadosh takes us from new school Rihanna to old school R. Kelly with some golden Top 40 remixes. Freak funk genie Yalls scuffs up Rhye nicely and a Passion Pit remix by newbie Dream Logic closes us out. Enjoy!

Why: And so begins the beautiful rabbit hole of Mikky Ekko. Begin with his spine-shiveringly beautiful love song “Pull Me Down” that laces tender lyrics crooned in his amazing voice between the haunting production of Clams Casino.
Then stumble out of the afterglow into the clatter and groove of the pepped up yet highly ominous Ryan Hemsworth remix. Then realize that Mikky sings alongside Rihanna on her new song “Stay” and be taken aback by the guy’s consistent talent as well as RiRi’s surprising singing voice.
As you wonder why Rihanna doesn’t make more songs this great find yourself swept up in the clack and click of this delicate Them Jeans remix, a perfect alternative when a bit more funk is needed during your new “Stay” obsession. Then wonder if your new “Stay” obsession even has anything to do with Rihanna or whether it’s that Mikky guy again. Return to “Pull Me Down.” Repeat.

David Guetta – Titanium (Mistereric Mix) / Imagine, a world of lightly crashing waves, sunny weather and gorgeous women rolling skating to the rhythm.  Thats what this song means to me.  Its got mad vibes.  Jump in.
The other night I was up as late as usual, when it came to me.  The thought, “where is the sun in this cloudy city”.  The city I’m referring to is Seattle, a city blessed with more than its share of rain.  It was at this moment I feverishly signed onto Soundcloud to tried to fill the that sunny void in my life.  Enter Viceroy.
Joel:Â Being from the Seattle area we don’t get a whole lot of sun, so most of the time we have to live vicariously through other people or in my case, music. You seem to have a unique style of production that fits this picturesque image of mine. An image of beaches, pools, fruity drinks, good vibes and most importantly…. loads of women. I know you don’t live in Vegas, so what inspires this style of music for you?
Viceroy:Â I think my best experiences through-out life always happened in the summer. The summer is something everyone looks forward to and growing up I couldn’t get enough of it. I also find my style of music aka “summer music” to be a style that can be played in all different kinds of settings with all kinds of people. Its multi-functional in that sense, plus who doesn’t love a feel good track? I wasn’t always into feel good music, but when I first explored edm, nu-disco was introduced to me immediately and I fell in love with it.
Joel:Â Viceroy is an interesting moniker, its more than a dj name, its a ruler of sorts. Can you tell us a little about what Viceroy means to you and your music? Side note: Did you know that Christopher Columbus desperately wanted to be the Viceroy of all discovered lands?
