i feel electrified, sunlight in my eyes , let’s make this day be something beautiful
We all know I messed up before when I slept on Felix Cartel’s epic summer jam “Tonight” so I’m not gonna let that happen again! cartel is dropping a set of fresh remixes and I jumped on that premiere like a horny dog at a BBQ. That Botnek version is my jam how it gets all spacey and thin before swinging back through for all kinds of weird frog-mouth sounds! Autoerotique gets down in the dirt for you bass fiends. Hot Mouth kicks a grimy disco funk and Jay Fay goes for Transformers synchronized Read more

Maja Ivarasson (of The Sounds) [Remixes by Autoerotique, Botnek, Hot Mouth, Jay Fay]
Why: I was offered the premiere of this song a while back but in my post-SXSW haze I didn’t catch how good it was and passed. Thanks to TBE reader Jayo I gave it another spin and instantly realized my mistake. The Sounds‘ resident hottie, Maja, lends her sweet and sultry vocals to Felix’s booty shaking beat. Mr. Cartal himself said it best though:
To work with Maja of The Sounds was truly an honour. They are one of my favourite bands and some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Maja has one of the purest voices in pop and makes this song exactly what I wanted it to be: Pure uplifting pop music.

Party people of the world we have some serious fire for you this time round! What could be considered the best group’n of remixes we’ve put together in a long time awaits you below. We realize its April Fools Day but there is absolutely no fooling around going on up in here. This roundup is the opposite of April Fools Day. Let’s just say we wanted to make sure and counter all the dumb jokes that might be taking place (thats right, even our own). TBE has your back. Now grab that mouse and get-a-clicking!

I can’t believe it’s August already. I can’t believe TBE is almost 6 months old. I can’t believe this is the 8th roundup of remixes. I can’t believe you are still reading this. OK, now I really can’t believe it. I cant. Seriously, nothing you say can make me believe you are still reading this. It’s called belief dude, it’s personal, I don’t have to explain or justify it. I mean, yeah, I guess if I saw you reading it I would ‘believe’ but that’s not even the point. The point is that there are so many fresh remixes down there and you are still reading this garbage. Some people, man, some people.
How freaking crazy is it that 2009 is already halfway over? What a crazy year so far, in so many ways, the least of which is all of the fantastic, surprising, and sometimes disappointing music that has come our way. TBE will be 5 months old in a week and we have been chronicling most of the year’s jams. Here are my top 20.9. I guarantee you wont agree with all of them but doesn’t that just make our friendship that much more deep and meaningful? Just so we are clear how I arrived at this particular order, I’ve selected my favorites from my top listens each month and then ordered them purely by total play count. I know that’s confusing but whatever, the list is after the jump.

I guess I always underrated The Sounds because as I now listen to their 2006 album, Dying To Say This To You, I am fully rocking out. It’s like I just latched onto “Tony The Beat” (below) and gave up on the rest of the disc. What a dummy. Well, don’t pull a me and do the same because these Swedes are back with a new album and judging by the epic “Dorchester Hotel” it will be a powerhouse. Crossing the Rubicon comes out June 2nd but in the meantime peep their MySpace for a few other new tracks.
