[MP3] TEAM ME have a DEAR of a jam and a wombat SISTER to boot

i guess i fell in love with that state of mind

♫ Team Me – Dear Sister

This is a song for getting a little twitchy to. If you don’t know what I mean then catch “Team Me” live and you will. Urgent “oohs”, propulsive percussion, and harmonies that could melt butter all get turned to 11 as this Norwegian sextet pumps the song full of all the energy in their vibrating bodies. I was lucky enough to witness it all go down at The Great Escape and it this track along with their moving slow jams just confirmed my suspicion that these guys are up to something special. Keep an eye out for more, like their new single “Weathervanes & Chemicals.” Oh, and if you do see them live, try to take your eyes off the delightfully spazzy girl in the group. She is Tord from The Wombats’ sister and talent clearly runs in the family.

Joel & Scott’s Top 50 Remixes of 2010

Welcome back party peeps.  We, Joel & Scott are proud to bring you our Top 50 Remixes of 2010.

Totally wish we could think of some rad shite to introduce this wicked cool Top 50 list with, but we’re both having some serious writers block here.  Typically in this situation we would just drink or get some sort of major caffeine stimulation (often both).  Not gonna lie, we enjoyed the hell out of our super strong energy/alcoholic beverages, but thanks to Central Washington University students the shite is outlawed.  Please, we’d love to hear your side of the story.   Anyway,… by now if you are a TBE follower you know that we are two dudes (Joel & Scott) originally from Seattle that just love to get Nurdy’ and melt our faces on that dirty d-floor.   And yeah, remixes to us are what platinum haired Bunnies are to Hugh Hefner.

Lastly, you might think its a little late for a “Best of List”, but that was a deliberate move on our part.  We at TBE don’t believe in a  “Best of List” before the New Year and we really wanted to take our time.  2010 was an incredible year for DJs and remix artists around the world.  Our top two remixes this year may very well be two of our top remixes of all time.  Its amazing to see the support DJs are now getting around the globe.  Don’t forget that they’re the ones that keep us dancing.

Keep dancing all, and if any of the following songs change your life YOU’RE WELCOME.  (Don’t forget to check out our Top 10 Dubstep Remixes of 2010)

TBE Digest 16 by the burning ear

I’m trying something new with this weeks Digest! Peep the tidy Soundcloud player above for individual tracks and comments from me (beginning of each track). Zip file is still downloadable below!

Please let me know what you think of this tighter, sleeker, TBE Digest experience! A massive pain in the ass or a step in a good direction? (It’s certainly a hell of a lot easier to put together…)

Remember, for more jams or by any of these artists use the ‘tags’ links at the bottom of the post!

A Burning Ear Christmas – Part 1: Original Jams

gimpy tree

It’s crazy to think about it but Christmas is right around the corner! However, while most blogs are geeking out over their best of the year/decade lists (umm… it’s not over yet, dudes) I’ve been working to collect a couple X-mas mixes for the holiday season. If you are anything like me you can’t handle getting too deep into Christmas music until the date looms a bit closer, so I figured I would start slow. Today I’ve got a mix of pretty snazzy original Christmas songs by some great artists. Start easing yourself into the holiday spirit and next week we will get into holiday standards covered by great bands. Do I need to mention that this mix fits nicely on a CD or in an iTunes playlist? No, you got that already? Good, good.

[JustBurnIt!] TBE Presents: I’m A Bulldog – A mix for NYC

60 Seconds in Times Square - 8/21/2006

A native New Yorker said to me yesterday, upon returning from a long absence from his city, “Damn, this city is unstoppable. It never dies.” True. True. While I did not grow up in NYC, I began spending chunks of time here at 3 and always had an affinity for this New York. Although I always said I could never live in such an intense place I ended up living here for two very formative post-college years. On the occasion of my visit to such a seminal city I don’t have pithy words, but I do have a mix tape. A mix tape for NYC. A love letter, a complaint letter, a letter from one man to his former home. Well ok, so maybe it’s not really a letter at all. It’s just a damn mix-tape, a collection of my favorite songs about NYC. Burn it for your subway commute or for your next visit to The Big Apple. Or just download it because you like good music. What are your favorite songs about NYC?

The title is taken from Kyle Andrews’ “Naked In NYC” and reflects the quoted sentiments of the New Yorker above.
