Bleachers – “I Wanna Get Better” (Wild Cub Remix)

Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff may be in the polarizing and radio burned fun. but before that he was the frontman of TBE Faves Steal Train (Remember “You And I Undercover”?) and for that I’ll always love him. And damnit if “I Wanna Get Better” isn’t the best anthem of the summer. Now Wild Cub  has given us a version with a little less sugar-rush and a little more spaciness. A lot of good things intersecting here.

[SXSW INTERVIEW] Wild Cub talk SXSW strategy, remixes, and… aand… achoo!

I sat down with the guys in Wild Cub during SXSW to talk about the value of free food at SXSW, the short attention span of music fans, and the value of the remix (something Wild Cub has always used well).

Remix Roundup Vol. 71 – THE RETURN! PART 1

I know, I know. It’s been too long. The Remix Roundups are back and I guarantee they will be more fun then ever. Here is Vol 71 for your weekend enjoyment and I already have Vol 72 coming together. Both of them are a kind of “house cleaning” of all the amazing remixes of 2013 that never got Roundup love. They will be followed by the Best Remixes of 2013 post. Thats a lot of music. Drink a lot of water and don’t forget to stretch.

Oh, and there are a few jams included in the ZIP below that aren’t on Soundcloud anymore so make sure you grab that…

[MP3] Wild Cub – “Blacktide” + REMIXES

Wild Cub - Blacktide

Wild Cub’s debut album is one of my favorites of the past year and the Nashville crew finally have new music. It sounds like Generationals scoring and 80s dance movie montage. Download it at KEXP and let that shimmering teen angst flow through your fingers and toes!

Also, get your mitts on these Wild Cub remix I have been selfishly hoarding…

[PLAYLIST] The Best REMIXES of 2012 – Part 2 (July-Dec)

TBE-Best-of-2012-Remixes

Man oh man. Could we be in a better world for fun remixes of great songs? Some of the old guard has been slacking in quality lately (RAC, where you at?) but new talent is cropping up in droves. Cyril Hahn practically made his name from that Destiny’s Child remix. Noah Hyde is on the map with amazing work. Manu el Chino nabs his second spot of 2012. Too many great tracks. Get on it for the weekend and check out all the bands and remixers you may have missed through the years. And especially listen to that Years & Years remix. What a genre flip. Mmmm…..

Be sure to catch all the 2012 “BEST OF” lists!
