Brandon’s TBE Digest 17 – 12.23.2010 [The Get Up Kids, Bon Iver, Tokyo Police Club, Local Natives, Lykke Li, Chromeo, …]

It’s Christmas time. I’m in a cabin in the woods. My stolen internet connection is worthless. My family is going through some stuff. I love you all but I’m just not able to give this post all the detailing that it deserves. I hope that you are too busy with your own holiday festivities to care and can just kick back and enjoy this collection of jams for the interesting mix that they are. Dive in and enjoy. I know I’ve been.

For more jams or by any of these artists use the ‘tags’ links at the bottom of the post!

NEW RELEVENT JAMS

♫ The Get Up Kids – Regent’s Court / It’s no “Mass Pike,” “Red Letter Day,” or “Hannah Hold On” but it’s good that that the boys are back in town.

♫ Estelle & John Legend – Shiny Suit pt.2 / They dropped a whole EP of free jams like this! Track it down!

♫ Yelawolf – Daddys Lambo / I love this dude’s flow and swagger but am still waiting for a track to get me fully pumped for his arrival on the scene.

♫ Bon Iver – Skinny Love (Das Kapital Rerub)

really hoping that yelawolf can pull a nicki minaj when his album comes out. both could absolutely destroy a verse when they were on but had mostly forgettable mixtapes. then nicki brought it and went all out on her album. so yeah, hoping yela can do the same and put it all together for an album.

whaaaaaaaaaaat? aight, since you already like kanye, check out “blazin” – nicki kills a verse, then kanye does an alright one. check out the lead track “i’m the best” where she lays down a great intro to the album. “did it on ’em” not her strongest rapping but has some crazy lines in it, and “moment 4 life” a nice showcase of her singing and rapping while drake puts down a nice verse too.

if you listen to those 4 and get nothing, then i guess nicki isn’t working for you. but this album is definitely working for me.
