[STREAM] Hoodie Allen – “No Interruption”

talking money i don’t really give a f, man, i got power like a mother-fuckin’ x-man

  • Who: Hoodie himself
  • What: Party hop, like Chiddy Bang, OnCue
  • Where: NYC + Facebook / Soundcloud / Amazon
  • When: Debut proper EP All American is out April 10th.
  • Why: Hoodie Allen has been the Internet’s rising rap star for a couple years now but I never could get into his jams. I really tried too as I liked his gusto and indie-sampling production vibe but somehow the beats or rhymes just didn’t stick. I eventually just wrote him off my radar as not for me. Then just the other day I get an email from him that among other things said this:
I stand behind this song more than anything I’ve ever done in the past and believe that this right here will make you a fan.
So I listened. And I’ll be damned if he wasn’t right. This jam is big time. The production is banging and Hoodies rhymes are tight. Props to him for being the fiercely dedicated artist that he is and not giving up on a dude like me. I respect that. But more importantly, I respect this jam. Oh, and 2 more things. 1) If you want get jealous of Hoodie hanging with hotties peep the fun video. 2) Our main groove-master Jhameel guests on a track on All American. Sign me up.

Ehhh. Is it really rhyming if it’s the same word? Even then, it feels kind of like any other cliche white boy rapping and all over the place thematically. Also just over the “Oh I’m young and new and rapping so I have to make sure I slam women at some point.”

Seriously???   NO!  So he switches up his style a little bit to sound like Drake?  If this is what he means by “this will make you a fan”  he must be meaning make you a fan of Young Money Ent.   PATHETIC!  He needs to drop the “bitches & hoes” rhetoric and stop tryin to be hood.  Its NOT working for him in the slightest.  His old stuff as mediocre as it is, is better than this wreck.

I didn’t catch the slamming women part but I think its interesting how hip-hop on TBE brings out the most negative comments by far. Nobody seems remotely this opinionated about any of the other music I post.

I try to avoid posting negatively unless it’s slamming ladies or minorities… Or I got extra snark on the brain. But yeah, this one… I dunnur. Just feel like a mess of ideas.

Umm I liked Hoodie before this song, but this album has a different feel. Which actually impressed me in a different way.

His videos are worth watching.. “James Franco” made me laugh
