The Temper Trap – Fader

Ever since I tipped The Temper Trap as a band to watch in 2009 I have been hungrily searching for new material from them. “Sweet Disposition” has not lost any of it’s magic and still hooks me every listen. Needless to say I was pretty excited to get an advance copy of their debut LP, Conditions, a few weeks ago. I was even more exited when the next day I saw 500 Days Of Summer where “Sweet Disposition” serves as a sort of theme song for the character’s love. A perfect choice for a near perfect movie (Seriously, see it). While I can’t say that Conditions is perfect, it is definitely worth picking up if you like what you have heard so far. Nothing transcends like “Sweet Disposition” but there is plenty of propulsive and dreamy guitar rock (the best being “Fader”) It’s hard to live up to a song like “Sweet Disposition” but I just don’t think this album would be on anyone’s radar without it. With that said, there is enough talent in the mix that I can easily imagine these Australians straight murdering it on their next outing and/or this album growing on me more and more. Conditions is out now in Australia and drops on Monday in the UK. Ah-hem? US release please?

I have never heard such a disappointment in a sound of a band after reading in every “of now” magazine claiming this band to be the next big thing. Bullshit, i can now see that this is totally marketed through major labels to take the average punters hard earned money. I wonder how much they pay all these magazines and radio stations to tell you their the next big thing. Nothing but a mockery of healthy original music.

Wow dude, that is a lot of anger. Yes, the album was disappointing, but based on the strength of “Sweet Disposition” how can you fault anyone for hyping them? Hey, I did it here at TBE! Are you saying someone paid me off? Then where is the check. I could use it…
