BAND OF HORSES take us to LAREDO

oh, i’m at a crossroads with myself, i don’t got no one else

♫ Band Of Horses – Laredo

(Web Sheriff disapproves but you can stream “Laredo” below and stream the whole album here)

Band Of Horses is one of those bands that I have never really listened to but have always heard good things about. I’ve heard a few tracks from their third album, Infinite Arms, which comes out on Tuesday and “Laredo” immediately jumped out as a favorite. I think these guys might be a bit too folky for me to really get into but “Laredo” is the perfect song for this kind of rainy mellow Sunday that’s going on here. Turn it on, close your eyes (or stare at that beautiful album art), and just drift along with the story of a man’s troubles with himself and his heart.

    Hi TBE,

On behalf of Columbia Records and Band of Horses, we would kindly ask you not to post copies of “Infinite Arms” on your site (or any non-preview tracks from the forthcoming Band of Horses album – street date 17th May UK & Europe / 18th May US & Canada).

We do appreciate that you are fans of / are promoting Band of Horses, but the label and artist would greatly appreciate your co-operation in removing your links to the pirate files in question.

Thank you for respecting the artist’s and label’s wishes and, if you / your readers want good quality, non-pirated, preview tracks, then a full length version of “Factory” is available for fans and bloggers to link to / post / host etc on the band’s site at http://www.bandofhorses.com … .. for further details of the new album, pre-orders, on-line promotions, videos and 2010 shows, check-out the official site, as well as the band’s MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/bandofhorses … .. and keep an eye on these official sources for details of further news, preview material and on-line promotions.

Also and as a goodwill gesture to fans and bloggers, an exclusive widget for the video of “Compliments” is available on the band’s site and an exclusive preview stream of the full album is also now available via stream.bandofhorses.com/ … .. these are for embedding / hyper-linking ONLY and for streaming by fans directly off the band’s website, so please reciprocate this goodwill gesture by NOT ripping or re-posting these files.

As you will appreciate, this post is written on a without prejudice basis and, as such, all of our clients' accumulated, worldwide rights and remedies remain strictly reserved : please excuse this required formality.

    With Thanks & Regards,

Good to hear some new stuff from Band Of Horses. 'Laredo' is also one of my favourites of the album, I also liked 'Way Back Home' and 'Factory'. I don't know if I would classify the band as folk though… probably more Alternative or Indie Rock (so don't steer clear of them just because of that!). Anyway, it's a pretty good album but nowhere near their last album 'Cease To Begin'. Thanks for the post.

Nice, I will definitely have to listen to more from them.

If their is one thing I've learned by writing this blog it's that it's futile to try and categorize bands. Sure, they aren't straight up folk like Bob Dylan but they aren't The Red Hot Chili Peppers (alternative) or The Killers (Indie rock) either if you know what I mean :) I just go with the first meaningless broad stroke genre term that pops into my head as I listen :)

“Laredo” is definitely a standout track on the new album – rest of Infinite Arms sounds great, too. Thanks for posting the link to the album stream. Can't wait to see these guys on tour again soon!
