Shabazz Places are a Seattle based hip-hop group who have been getting quite a bit of buzz lately. They keep their group details a secret, preferring for the music to be the focus. Well, when your music sounds like this I can get with that. Their new album Black Up is out now and album-closer “Swerve” is a jam. It has an epic thump and groove that get pounded with what sounds like a typewriter beat, creating a smooth vibe for the verses to play off of. The two other tracks I’ve heard are more experimental and odd, I guess. You guys heard it? Recommended?
