Remix Roundup Vol. 13 /// 11-20-09

Photo by Daniel GreeneIn my never ending quest to make these roundups leaner and meaner this post was supposed to be onl 8 songs deep. Then I started putting everything together and it was one “Oh, shit! What about….” after another. Anyway, here is another remix beast for your weekend pleasure. Some real jamaroonies in this batch so get pumped!

♫ Drink Up Buttercup – Even Think (Andrew W.K. Remix) / Hell. Yes. Everyone’s favorite party starter amps the shit out of this jam turning it into one of my favorite tracks in recent memory. It’s this remix that got me psyched on the original. [original post]

♫ Boy Crisis – Fountain of Youth (Wallpaper Remix) / A stone-solid jam gets a Wallpaper. remix. What do you think it’s gonna sound like? As long as the awesome lyrics are intact it’s gonna be hard to mess up this one. [original post / More Wallaper.]

♫ Ke$ha – Tik Tok (Fred Falke Remix Radio) / A little summer-time flashback with this one. I’m on board. This jam is now officially club ready. [original post]

♫ Yeasayer – Ambling Alp (Memory Tapes remix) / I’m hard pressed to think of a more perfect pairing than this. Memory Tapes trades the original’s hyper energy for a a big dose of his mellower sound and it works brilliantly. Two very different versions for different moods.  [original post]

♫ Magic Wands – Black Magic (Crystal Fighters Remix) / Crystal Fighters aren’t breaking any new ground here but they’ve done their thing and it’s kinda fun. [original post]

♫ Dragonette – Easy (Buffetlibre Mix) / It might seem hard to fuck up a Dragonette song but props have to be given to Buffetlibre for taking a dance-pop jem and and cranking that fun knob just enough. I may even like this version more than the original. [more Dragonette]

♫ William Fitzsimmons – I Don’t Feel It Anymore (George Raquet Remix) / It’s kinda weird to have a semi-dancey version of such a sad song but it somehow works. I’m imagining a sunrise on the beach after a long night out and this would be just perfect. [original post]

♫ Golden Silvers – True Romance (Penguin Prison Remix) / It’s like Penquin Prison took the original, put it in a pink fur-lined Cadillac and sent it back to the 70s. With a pimp hat. [original post]

♫ Peter Bjorn & John – It Don’t Move Me (Silver Columns mix) / Besides “Brow Beaten,” this is the only other taste we have of Silver Columns and it’s fresh. We are going to have something awesome on our hands soon.

♫ Silver Columns – Brow Beaten (Joe Goddard Remix) / Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard goes to town on this one, getting his knobs up in all the right places and adding his own bits of flair here and there. The business that kicks in at 2:17 is the epic. [original post]

♫ Hot Chip – Touch Too Much (Fake Blood Remix) / Speaking of Hot Chip, I dug this one up because my new faves Fake Blood just murder it on this remix and even though it’s from Hot Chip’s last album we can use it to get hyped for One Life Stand. [More HC / FB]

♫ Drop The Lime – Devil’s Eyes [CLASSIXX’S B-LIVE MIX] / Classixx tone down the spastic a bit, turning this one into a beach barbecue jam for those of lucky enough to have seen either in the past few weeks. [original post]

♫ Bravery – Slow Poison (Drop The Lime Remix) / Did you know Sam Endicott wrote the music for Shakira’s “She Wolf,” as well as a bunch of other pop hits? Crazy, huh? Well, he has taken enough time off of raking in the $$ to put together another Bravery album. I haven’t heard the original of “Slow Poison” yet but I am feeling this Drop The Lime remix fo sho.

♫ Skewby – No Handlebars (w/ Flobots) / Memphis based Skewby is apparently the next dude on the college rap scene and blah blah. I’m just feelin’ this track he made  sampling Flobot’s “No Handlebars.” Cant’s go wrong with that jam a starting point.

This is an amazing post! I've been led to your website many times (this time through elbows) and every time I always find something amazing. Your motto for your website is inspiring and I've always tried to do the same on The Music Ninja, theres too many out there with 100 posts a day that dont focus on just high quality songs.

Anyways I added you to my blogroll because quite simply anyone who listens to Uhh Yeah Dude is already a brother of mine lol

.. a second reason is that i might yank a couple of songs from ya .. giving you credit of course.. neways keep up the great job

Great post. Its amazing how people like Fred Falke and Calvin Harris can turn songs I despise like “Tik Tok” and “Waking Up In Vegas”, into tracks I recommend to friends.

Came here for Kesha remix but then I see Dragonette, Classixx, Memory Tapes, Flobots, Magic Wands…and I realize I'm going to look forward to checking out your whole set. Nice work.

You may want to consider naming the download package with your site or DJ name so random people who got it randomly remember where they got it from. Just a thought.

That, madame, is a fine idea. I will try to not let it slip my teflon-brain the next time I am whipping one of these up! And you, just keep coming back for more audio sweetness!
